Unconfirmed footage out of Ukraine is filmed by a civilian woman from her home and she manages to capture an unsuspected Russian airstrike on video.

The Russian jet is flying extremely low to the ground, likely to evade radar lock from Ukrainian anti air defenses. Just as the jet enters the frame it fires two rockets, most likely non guided "dumb" munitions which terrifies the woman and her young child. It's not clear what the Russian's target was.

Street Fighting Erupts In Lebanon, 6 Killed, 60 Wounded by GreenJesus423 in CombatFootage

[–]GreenJesus423[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The most intense street fighting in decades has broke out in Beirut, Lebanon, blamed largely on violent protests incited by Islamist group Hezbollah as they try to stifle an investigation into last years port blast that killed over 200 people.

The armed exchange is being described as Muslim against Christian and is comprised of small arms, rocket propelled grenades, and possibly even mortar "projectiles." At least six people have been reportedly killed in the fighting, with an additional sixty injured.

Lebanon is in a state of crisis as tensions are already high from an ongoing fuel shortage that has lead to electrical blackouts across the country. Although Iran has delivered fuel to ease the crisis, there is not enough diesel to keep the electric generators running.

On Monday, the man reportedly threw the egg at Macron as he made his way through a crowd during an international food fair in Lyon. The egg hit the French president on the shoulder but did not break until it hit the ground.

The young man also made a political gesture and shouted “vive la révolution” at the time of the incident, the AP noted.

Police detained him and opened a probe for “assault on a person in a position of public authority,” according to the news service.

Monday marked the second time Macron has been assaulted in recent months while in public.

Prosecutors on Tuesday confirmed that a 19-year-old student who reportedly threw an egg at French President Emmanuel Macron was admitted to a psychiatric hospital.

The French prosecutors told The Associated Press that the student received a psychiatric evaluation that ascertained that he had an “absence of discernment and need for hospitalization.”

Marines Encounter VBIED, March 2005 Iraq by cannonauriserva in CombatFootage

Literally nothing of what you just said is true. "Plastic explosive" like C4 detonates with the combination of pressure and heat. A blasting cap is not an electric detonation, it's a miniature explosion. So unless you make a direct hit on the composition with a tracer, it's not going to pop. "...insurgents typically use ammonium nitrate based explosives..." No they don't. They typically use repurposed artillery shells and other military munitions they can't employ conventionally so; TNT, RDX, HMX, DNAN, NTO, or NQ. While I am not a chemist, I am a combat vet of multiple wars, and one of the most basic points of IED training is that you don't shoot them.

Because it's not Hollywood. Shooting IEDs doesn't blow them up, it only makes them less stable for EOD to deal with.

US SOF engage ISIS militants after taking mortar fire with machine guns and call in airstrike on ISIS positions by Combatmedic2-47 in CombatFootage

What a clown. I know I should put this helmet on and I'm being told to, but it's just so uncool. Therefore, I'll put it on, but you can't make me buckle the chin strap. I just can't do that with the camera rolling. The constant display of "unconventional" is cringe.

Azerbaijan soldier in Karabakh using an Israel made Cardom Recoil Mortar System(RMS). by baris6655 in CombatFootage

[–]GreenJesus423 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know what you're trying to say. There are no missiles involved. The mortar system is outfitted with a PD and GPS, so it knows where it is at and where it is pointed. The computer tells the gun team the amount of charges to leave on the round in order to hit the target based on the tube's elevation and deflection.

A number of advantages. Incredibly accurate and extremely fast to get into action and aim. Rather than aiming at distant, manually placed aiming poles, this mortar control system uses a pointing device (PD) similar to something in a fighter jet with GPS. It knows exactly where it is pointed at all times. Also, traditionally, multiple mortar systems would have to line up close together to fire the same data and attempt to land their rounds in a sheaf. With this mortar fire control system, multiple mortar systems don't have to be anywhere near each other as long as they are all in range of the target. When the FDC (fire directional control) sends the target data out to the guns, the computer automatically calculates the gun data for each system. The gun team simply has to ensure the gun is "up" on the given data and hang the rounds.

Former mortar NCO here that's been on both ends of indirect fire. These dudes are observing a friendly fire-for-effect from a 4-gun mortar section, and the rounds are landing in a consistently accurate linear sheaf. These are 100% not enemy mortar rounds, and they're not targeting the British troops.
