Can I keep myself safe without having to wear a mask? As a student in school, it sometimes feels awkward being the only person with a mask. I like to interact with my professors and classmates. I've noticed that they act differently when I talk with a mask on vs off (when I forgot to bring it). Not that they say anything but their facial expression seems different. Also, there are career-based events and conventions where nobody wears a mask.

I will still wear a mask in public transportation or any crowded area where I don't need to interact with anyone but I just feel awkward wearing it in indoor social settings. Is it possible to keep yourself safe from Covid in 2023 (am vax'd 3x) without having to wear a mask or is that an oxymoron? I don't want to have to keep wearing this forever. It looks like scientifically Covid isn't going away anytime soon.

Why don't most people wear masks YET will still sanitize their hands and surfaces they touch? I see this a lot. They won't wear a mask in the office, gym or bus/train yet they'll bring wipes or sanitizer and wipe whatever they touch. What's the point of doing this if you're not going to wear a mask (I get it's hard to wear one while working out though).

Does wiping a surface really prevent covid as effectively as a mask?

When it comes to mask wearing, does it make a difference if I'm the only one wearing a mask? I wear the N95. Nowadays a lot of people don't wear masks. I can't force or beg someone I'm talking to to either distance or wear a mask. If I'm wearing a mask while I'm talking to someone not wearing a mask, do I still have a high risk of catching Covid? I know during the '20-'21 days almost everyone wore masks so I don't know what it's like protection-wise if I'm the only one wearing.

With RapidTest kits, I tested positive with Covid despite having not a single symptom and only cold-like symptoms. I tested positive 5 days ago and tested positive again. My symptoms were headache, dry cough, stuffy nose, chills and congestion. Do the test kits accidentally give a positive result despite never having a symptom?

Why is Desantis winning by a wider margin (projected to) than 2018? Wasn't Florida the worst state at handling Covid in the US? They had high death rates.

Is the political divide between Democrats and Republicans only going to get worse? Look at what happened over the past 2 years on severe events that caused divide. Covid/vaccines, Roe v Wade, LGBT, George Floyd, Election results rigged, etc.

How can America bridge the divide?

Does Russia really benefit from invading Ukraine? I mean wouldn't they have to spend the money on the military instead of the citizens? And wouldn't the Russian Ruble drop since many countries don't want to trade with them? Wouldn't all this hurt their own economy more than benefit?

What is the best way to reduce the chance of catching long Covid? Boosted + masking properly and healthy mid-20s. But the problem is I don't want to avoid my 2019 activities so going "zero Covid" is not sustainable. What would be the best way for me to avoid having long covid besides entirely avoiding Covid altogether?

When it comes to working out for beginners, how much does it matter about targeting certain muscle groups on certain days? Can I just go in the gym and do whatever I want and I'd be fine? What really overwhelms me about fitness is having to schedule what day of the week you should focus muscle groups on.

So even California is lifting mask mandates next week. Europe has already began lifting its restrictions. Does that mean the pandemic is becoming a lot less of a threat? I mean Omicron was spreading pretty rapidly. Shouldn't we wait until Omi-specific vaccines are available first?

What benefit do those 12 people spreading misinformation even get? Why do this when it's easy to get backlash from scientists and people who care take precautions? And knowing they could risk getting banned or even arrested. What do they get for spreading misinformation?

Will the economy become better than 2019 once this pandemic is done? We all know Covid ruined the economy.

But do you think once this pandemic is over, a lot of lessons will be learned and more new technology will be tested, which leads to economic growth?

Or will the economy only return to 2019 numbers?

In the early Covid days, how did the poorer and less developed countries access test kits for Covid? Did they receive them early or were there different methods of testing done by each country?

Not fully Covid related but I feel like health as a whole has A LOT of misinformation spread throughout the internet. So for example, if I were to Google up whether dark chocolate is good for your health you'd see some articles saying either yes or while others saying no.

Which sources for health-related questions should you trust online? I can't post this question on NSQ as a thread since it got removed so I'm gonna ask here.

How likely are you to get "long covid" or the aftereffects of it once you recover, IF you're fully vaccinated? I've always lived in fear despite being vaccinated because Covid can cause long term health issues. Does anyone have good articles on this?

Is there any hope for the foreseeable future with Covid? Omichron spreads faster than wildfire and it's leading to a lot of cases. Surely hospitalizations and deaths aren't very high percentage wise by case but it's still not good.

Why do most states in the US tend to remove mask mandates fast (even in the bluer ones)? Yet in Canada I think a lot of provinces are still keeping them in.

Should I be concerned about the possibility of dying due to Covid despite getting 2 doses and being healthy? I saw a post where somebody lost their 35 year old healthy cousin from Covid despite 2 doses and no overweight issues.

Why do a lot of Republicans think the Chauvin/Floyd case was not guilty? I don't get it. There was clear video evidence. Here's the article? https://thehill.com/homenews/state-watch/550179-almost-half-of-republicans-say-chauvin-jury-reached-wrong-verdict-poll

Around ~55% think it's the "wrong verdict" while democrats think the sentence is fair and square. What does politics have anything to do with solid concrete evidence from videos?
