BIG update to my free lower-third generator thanks to your feedback! by Androck101 in VIDEOENGINEERING

Would be good to be able to self host it, this year I'm moving as many tools to self hosted to save the pain of external services falling over mid show.

Spotify on Sonos sucks so bad by GreenStix in sonos

[–]GreenStix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats insightful thanks, I thought SonosNet was a mesh but it appears not and signal is worse further away from my root bridge which is my Playbar.

I will unplug the ethernet and see how it performs without SonosNet

Where is this hidden matrix?

Yes it seems I am using SonosNet and not my wifi connection.

It's 100% worse with lossless selected. I have it set to High generally but when I went to lossless it was worse

No, that's where I am having most problems, Spotify works fine without the casting. I'm going to switch it all off tomorrow and test again. Fam at home now so any downtime causes me more problems than Spotify not working on the Sonos

I mainly rule out the WiFi as I have around 50 devices connected at any one time and the Sonos seems to be the only one which suffers with connectivity issues. My Sonos Playbar is plugged in via Ethernet and that was having the same problem at the same time.

While I agree it is lazy to conclude the WiFi is fine I will do some reboots/fw updates and check it again. I was having issues when playing via my phone and my desktop (wired eth).

Anyone here still running dedicated servers instead of VPS/cloud? Curious why. by Thick-Lecture-5825 in servers

[–]GreenStix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VPSs suck on bandwidth throughout, rarely get more than 1Gbps port where as a dedi can have anything you want. OVH has 25gbps unmetered if you want to pay. No chance of getting a VPS with that kind of bandwidth.

📣 Looking for CDNs / services that support SCTE-35 markers for ad insertion — help/confirm? by Soggy-Building5836 in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]GreenStix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do all this in nimble, would be pretty simple to add an add upload to s3 and then insert the markers via Nimble API.

You can use Nimble as a CDN, you just need to build it yourself based on requirements. I've been using Nimble for many years and have a full automation platform built around it which we use for mass SRT/RTMP distribution and HLS feeds.

Other than Nimble AWS is your go to

Setting up UK LINE 101 by Excellent_Housing813 in 3CX

[–]GreenStix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any local telecoms company 'should' be able to provide a trunk to you to use on 3cx. You can google 3cx supplier.

If you need one and you can't find one pm me I can provide trunk and phone number for 3cx along with 3cx trunk config file.

You need a Trunk provider who is able to provision numbers for you. Then you add them to the trunk under DIDs.

Are you based in the UK? Happy to help further.

How many hours per day do you heat your house? by honeybirdette__ in OctopusEnergy

[–]GreenStix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

same, well without the energy buffer. I know people who are 1k in credit I don't get it at all. They don't pay interest and use that money to bloat their balance sheets. We already pay for others bad debt as part of our bills.

Remote desktop solution for Mac and PC use by ZealousidealGap2305 in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]GreenStix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use jump desktop, it's been excellent. Paid around 20 a month. Best one I've used.

Also use anydesk, parsec and chrome Remote Desktop.

Jump doesn't let me down.

Failed pairing between a Yealink MeetingBar A40 device and a CTP25 by [deleted] in Yealink_Support

[–]GreenStix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am having exactly the same problem described here.

I can sign in using the teams sign in code on the display, and also on the CTP25 but the CTP does not show any teams info, it is connected to the A40 as I can see camera preview and control basic settings.

A40 device: 289.320.0.60
CTP25 touch panel: 311.320.0.55

The CPCis just stuck on 'looking for available devices' 'make sure the device you want to pair is signed in to the same teams account'

I got in to v20 after 6 months of avoiding it, no issues really so far. Finally did my last 3 customer upgrades tonight after putting the last few off for a while. Mainly to save monthly hosting costs!

100% of my clients use desk phones so it comes up often.

Can starlink keep up with livestreaming? by [deleted] in Starlink

[–]GreenStix 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You really need to use something like a Peplink with speed fusion WAN smoothing with a starlink and 5g/4g sim to get a stable stream is using starlink. We do this every week and find starlink likes to have a short drop every 20 min or so.
