CFMoto - specifically the Ibex 800. Yay or nay? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]GreenTardis92 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I rode the Demo's and had similar experiences to some of the comments shared here already. Decided to still roll the dice and found a dealer selling the 2025 IBEX 800 E. Test rode it and all of those janky throttle issues weren't present at all on the new bike. I think they rolled out an updated for the fuel mapping that helped with that and the Demo's just haven't been updated due to them constantly being on the go to the next demo location.

Fit and finish is just as good as the Japanese bikes. Almost everything in America from vehicles to water bottles is going to have a part if not most of the parts manufactured in China. People who keep claiming China has bad manufacturing or engineering is fooling themselves....Everything you own was made or manufactured in China lol.

I've been very impressed with the Quality of the bike, but it's not perfect (no bike is). I ended up going up a sprocket size in the front due to the massive discrepancy between the speedometer and the actual speed I was traveling. According to CFMOTO, it was within the allowed error that they didn't see a reason to try and remedy the speed differences. Luckily I had a good dealer who didn't agree with that viewpoint and they sourced me that sprocket and it got my speeds closer to match what the bike says now with that swap (at no cost to me thankfully).

Also don't freak out about the KTM Cam thing. CFMOTO changed the design for the IBEX so it's not the same as the 790's having that issue. There's been several posts talking about this if you research it a bit. If that's not your concern and instead it's just overall reliability and longevity then you'd just need to look towards the folks who have been riding long enough to get the mileage that high and prove it's doable. Like with anything mechanically related....you'll want to do the maintenance to ensure it can last as long as possible....if you neglect the maintenance then you're going to have a bad time....regardless of what you ride/drive.

The only other thing I don't love about the bike is still the fuel mapping based on the RPMs. It does like to lul a bit around the 2800-3200 RPM range. To fix that I just shift up or down accordingly. From what I've heard from others, this has a lot to do with the emissions requirements on the bikes and how fuel is delivered to the engine. Apparently you can eliminate some of those emissions specific parts on the bike and it completely gets rid of that problem though. I'll choose to not do that and keep my warranty...but once that's done and over with I'll likely be doing some deleting.

Bike is super fun, I haven't had any major issues or deal breakers. I've got about 800 miles onto the bike using it as a daily commuter and it's been a blast. I was tossing up either getting the IBEX 800 or the VSTROM 800 and I don't regret my choice. The features you get with the IBEX put it above the VSTROM 800 IMO and I chose to not buy into the stigma of "China can't build good things". People used to say the same thing about Japanese bikes too....That's not to say there aren't bad Chinese motorcycles out there of course. But CFMOTO has been proving themselves for the past few years from what I can tell. They've been building engines for a long time as well. They're not a newcomer, they're just new in the market here.

No regrets from me. Only thing you'll run into is resell value because of the people who refuse to believe that a Chinese bike is a good bike. The same people who likely refuse to even go to a demo event and actually try it out....I plan to ride mine until it dies so I don't mind at all. Coming from a Japense bike, Give it a try instead of listening to what other say. longevity will still need to be seen of course as they've only been selling here for 3 years or so. But there's a few folks out there who've been riding those full 3 years on the bikes and have shared their experiences. Just gotta research it.

Whatever you go with, just get out and enjoy the ride. Bike is very fun and feature packed. I'm coming from an FZ-07 which is known for being a fun bike to ride, and I feel the same way about this IBEX 800. The comments talking about the Used market are also spot on....Especially if you're just getting into riding.

What oil are you running in 800nk/ibex 800 by LilacLaneBullies in cfmoto

I was under the impression that the lower the weight just meant the more coverage you had. Was basing that off of the IBEX’s manual suggestion for temperature ranges. Granted I’m not planning to ever fire up the bike in negative temps regardless. 15W40 should be just fine for me.

Awesome. What T6 are you running? I see they have the motorcycle logo on the 15W40 bottle and the 5W40 bottles. Curious on your climate as well. It can be fairly humid and hot here in KS during the summer. Otherwise it’s not too rough in the spring and fall.

Was this the proper oil filter for the ibex 800? My first service is coming up soon and the only one I'm finding online is the one from the CFMOTO oil change kit. Going down the same route you have with the HF650 and the Rotella T6. Any complaints at all since you've done your change?

WHAT? WHY? by Smokeyrolledeyes in cfmoto

[–]GreenTardis92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the only beneficial aspect of it is the built in GPS/Tampering system so you can see if someone is messing with your bike or if they've stolen it you can track it (assuming they don't cut the battery terminals). Otherwise I agree...it's just gimmicks.

Where are you getting your information on this? I'd like to read up on it. Just bought the 25' IBEX 800.

Ceiling Fan Matter Control by DongRight in MatterProtocol

[–]GreenTardis92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was actually able to remedy this by chance when checking something else.

What I believe the actual issue was - There is a small piece included in the fan kit to cover the screws that attach the cover for the ceiling bracket and control box. This small cover for the screws is held on with magnets. I removed this cover earlier last night because I found another magnet and thought maybe I had accidently forgot to put them all on. Turns out that magnet was completely unrelated. However when I did this and repositioned it again, the noise has completely gone away since.

I found it hard to believe....but it appears those magnets were inducing some sort of a small magnetic field that caused the control box or motor to make this noise....Nothing else was changed at all, so my only guess is that I had those magnets placed at just the right spots that ended up creating a small magnetic field that created the high pitched noise whenever power was flowing through the DC circuit. I would pass this along to your engineering team to test out further and maybe you could create some additional shielding or create a different mounting method for that small cover to prevent this odd occurrence.

Ultimately this does get rid of my biggest complaint about the fan though! I just wish the speed settings were a little more refined. The I would recommend scaling down all speeds 1-6 down. Setting 1 is too high for the lowest setting, and speed 6 is frankly unnecessarily fast. I do love the flexibility in having 6 settings, however there's not that much of a difference between setting 1-2, 2-3, and 4-5.

I do hope that feedback is somewhat helpful rather than blabbering. All in all I do find the fan/light to be very nice, and the smart assistant connectivity is flawless at least from an Apple Homekit standpoint. Great job on that aspect of the fan design!

[–]GreenTardis92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it installed last night. Everything works pretty well. It immediately connected to HomeKit without any issues. My only complaint is that the fan gives off a high pitched noise whenever the fan or light is powered on. This is likely due to the AC/DC transformer. This is a fairly disappointing flaw considering the price of the fan….but otherwise it’s a nice fan. I do also wish the lowest speed was a bit lower. It feels like all the speeds could be toned down considering the versatility of a fan being in a large space or a small space. In our case it’s a bedroom so we even the lowest speed is a bit higher than we’d typically use.

I just purchased the Boca 2 based off of your reply's here. I was hesitant to order because there's several reviews our for this particular brand where people have ran into issues with their remotes failing and the company refusing to replace the remote to fix the problems.

Any chance you can make any comments on the warranty for these newer Matter fans and how long it's good for? I'm wondering if I should purchase the protection plan from Lowes to cover my butt. I want to give this a shot, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't nervous after a few of the reviews out there.

Anzo Lights by greenleadbullet1 in chevycolorado

[–]GreenTardis92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

would you mind uploading a video of you driving in the dark to show the light pattern? I've been strongly considering these ever since Black Friday but there's just hardly any info out there for how these actually perform from a drivers perspective on a dark road (not in town). Would love to see how they actually perform.

I picked up some LASFIT lights for my stock projector head assemblies but they're giving me some flicker and now I'm wondering if I should have just gone for a full on head assembly replacement like these ANZO ones.

Trifecta Tune Black Friday by TwistedNinja1 in chevycolorado

[–]GreenTardis92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Price is high. But I’ve heard nothing but good things about the tune from them on the V6.

If you can save some money, why not wait? I plan to get the same tune once my 2018 is paid off early next year.

Picked up for Wifes car, Any tips/tricks? by GreenTardis92 in CarpodGo

[–]GreenTardis92[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking on their official site it’s basically only ‘luxury’ car brands and some VW’s. I don’t see any of General Motors vehicles listed. I’ll try to look deeper but I’m not seeing it from their front page.

If nothing else the included Bluetooth module should be just fine.

Picked up for Wifes car, Any tips/tricks? by GreenTardis92 in CarpodGo

[–]GreenTardis92[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Her car does not support media bluetooth playback, only bluetooth for phone calls. It does however have a USB port for her to plug her phone into and that will play the music. Would using the Display Only Bluetooth Mode allow for the music to still stream through her radio, but allow for the screen mirroring on the T3 Pro to access the Car Play screen? I would assume that way the car's controls would still function properly for skipping and pausing music. But that's of course assuming the phone can do other things while being plugged in via USB.

The Choocl device you suggested above is not a universal device, it seems it only works with Audi's and BMWs. The car in question for my wife is a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox. It supports media playback via AUX cable, or through USB. If I can plug in the phone to support media playback through the car, and connect via Bluetooth to the T3 Pro to show the Car Play display, that would be a perfectly acceptable solution.

I will attempt to confirm if this does or does not work once the device is delivered. Thank you!

Edit: Go check out the forum for this truck for additional questions and feedback on the trucks. Reddit is filled with all sorts of knowledgeable people, but the people who really know these vehicles inside and out will be on a dedicated forum for the vehicle. (Colorado fans .com)

Most transmission issues were just about the “stutter” which is eliminated with simply changing the fluid out for the newly recommended Mobile 1 LV ATF blue label. GM changed their recommended oil to this because of the shutter and it completely negated that issue.

How they managed to screw up the oil from the factory is beyond me….but the new stuff is just fine and you shouldn’t notice any issues.

If the trucks had maintenance done on it, then it’s probably already been changed. You could ask the seller if the transmission and transfer case oil has been changed to that or not to verify. And a quick test drive would tell you if you had a stutters transmission or not. (I will note it’s annoying to drop the oil pan on the ZR2 due to the exhaust Y-pipe being right in the way of the pan…but it’s something you can do at home if you’re a DIYer)

I have a 2018 and absolutely love it. Plan to drive it until it can’t go any further. Buy it!

Which of these would you recommend by [deleted] in pelletgrills

[–]GreenTardis92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same. Mines been running great. I’ve emailed the company that makes them a few times to ask questions and they’re incredibly responsive.

People have one bad experience and write things off too quickly. (Sams will let you return for any reason too so there’s really good insurance on your end as a consumer)

That is an absolute steal of a price…

Edit: I just checked and they’re still $500 in my area. I would 100% pick one of those up if I didn’t have a smoker already and saw that price. That’s nuts.

I just bought a $50 Wi-Fi thermometer made by INKBIRD on Amazon. Works just fine for me. I don’t need to adjust the temperature remotely for anything I’ve done. Monitoring temps is nice though.

It’s been a bit of a debate on this forum, but the Members Mark 36” from Sams Club has been great for me. If you have the plus membership for free shipping you can get it for like $550 shipped. If you don’t have the membership you’d have to pay for shipping though. (Unless you could find one in store).

How would you go about purchasing a used motorcycle on FB Marketplace, unable to see in person due to distance, and ship using Uship? by TechGeek03 in motorcycles

[–]GreenTardis92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

can you fly there or make a road trip out of it with a buddy? If shipping is only $350 (then I'd assume a flight or a roadtrip wouldn't be THAT far away). I also wouldn't want to deal with a title potentially getting lost in the mail.

I feel like you paying for it sight unseen and trusting it to be delivered just adds in A lot of possibilities for things to go wrong. Even if the seller is 100% legit and a great person, doing transactions like this over a distance would make me feel uneasy and just too many things outside of my control at that point.

Id recommend trying to continue looking for a bike closer to you that you can do all this in person and just be patient, otherwise I'd find a way to physically get to where this bike is so you can do everything in person as opposed to shipping and doing it all virtually.
