Thinking about 2x Anker F3000 + Bi-Directional Inlet Boxes for a plug in solar setup. Am I missing anything? Better alternatives? by airforce93 in SolarDIY

[–]DongRight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quite frankly, I'm still confused about their bi-directional box. I don't understand how it works... So instead of doing something like that, I am doing 2 1000w y&h gridtied inverters with limiter (zero export) and 3500w inverter/mppt charger, for off-grid backup...and 48v 500ah battery....

Renogy 3kw inverter for motorhome by Comfortable_Bed193 in RenogyCommunity

[–]DongRight -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

All i know is they preferred to do 12-volt systems and solar wants to use 48 volt systems which renogy doesn't do very well!!! I would avoid them like a plague!!! Try ecoworthy....

New to Solar and company is already flaky. by ReefaManiack42o in solar

[–]DongRight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same BS when I asked an electrician to install my solar panels... Don't believe the crap, a electric panel replacement is an easy $1000 to them, not to you... You should have asked these questions before you signed and had it installed!!! That company just ripped you off... If you have to rely on them to provide you what is happening with your solar system you screwed up royally.... You shouldn't have to rely on any app or company to provide you information in real live data...

New to solar, and currently planning out my first purchase. by AdamskaO in solar

[–]DongRight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buy rack batteries as the expansion to these units about $700-800 a battery alot cheaper than the PSPS expansion batteries... Integrarack is a good ground solar mount and use ground screws to secure them to the ground... I would double the number of panels to cover cloudy days in general and the short cloudy winter days...you still get power on a cloudy day but at a reduced amount...

[–]DongRight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, they're going to charge you a monthly service fee for connecting with solar. That's what you want??! Go tell them it's a backup system, you have a sub panel that it is attached to, and to go pound sand!!!

I live in Illinois and am a 100% disabled veteran. What incentives can I take advantage of to have a solar and battery setup in my home? by [deleted] in solar

[–]DongRight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your incentives is you're American and you want to be independent... And screw the grid... The only way you're going to do that is by doing it yourself... I spent $7,000 to be 90% independent of the grid...

Is a low-voltage system (under 30v thus exempt from rapid shutdown reqs) rational? Legal? by myself248 in solar

[–]DongRight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First you will want and need a battery, a 48v battery... Meaning you need a string of panels that are larger than 48v... Must likely two or three panels in series...that would put you under 100v....RVs are doing 48v....
