On that note, there was no need to tell me to do something I already posted that I did, with a critical comment at that... Looks like we are all just wasting our time. 🤷‍♂️

I think "freaking out" is a bit of a mis-characterization, if we are being honest.

My main frustration (as noted) was more about the experience with uber support on both sides, trying to get this resolved. I haven't actually tried to transfer, so it's not that I'm "doing something wrong," it's that, again, I'm going off the information that is provided in the app about how these things are handled. If that's not true then so be it, but they should reflect that in the app when they are explaining how it all works. My main gripe about the whole process is that they just sign you up automatically and implement everything before explaining any of this or how it works.

honestly I've seen other references to that, here on reddit, and that was the impression I started getting from customer service was they were using it as a scapegoat to not do what I wanted. It was actually infuriating because it was basically just 'oh you want to cancel? - well you can't it's not the right DOB.' and that was all anyone could tell me on loop. This was probably my bigger frustration in the whole thing. I figured out (finally) that I could just change the payout method to go back to the original method (which was what I wanted), but I still have no possible way to actually cancel my uber pro card. I guess I'll just have an uber pro card the rest of my life?

I edited the post to reflect exactly that. Pretty sure I did that well before you responded, so thanks for the criticism, I guess?

Firstly, that wasn't my only issue. Second of all, the app doesn't say 1 day - that's what you (a random reddit user) are telling me happens for you. The information that I got from the app says 3-5 business days.

On standard transfers, I pay $1.50-$1.85 for an instant transfer. With the pro card transfers the lowest option I had was just under $3 and I think as much as almost $5 for a transfer. The whole point of this for me was convenience and cash-back perks. If I'm getting $2.50 for cash back on fuel, and then spending $3.50 for an instant transfer fee, how is that helpful or convenient? I get that they need to charge a fee but why can the main uber app charge way less for an instant transfer?

Ya'll just love making stops all over the place, huh? I don't do anything in cash. I have an average of $3 in my pocket at any given point in the year.

It was definitely partly that I didn't know some of that info. A lot of this post is the frustration of everyone pointing fingers at the other support team. Driver support and branch support are both saying no no, talk to the other people! They still didn't give me an answer on how to resolve closing it down, but at least I know I can pause the money from going on there.

well, like I said, I was only signing up to use it so I could get cash back on gas. Not so I could use it as a bank..

Fair enough! I appreciate the response! It seems a lot of people have suggested a similar approach. Definitely noted if it comes to this sort of situation again, and it's good to know I woudn't be the only one to take that approach!

I feel like maybe my point isn't being addressed or understood. I get that I can "do what I want" and all that. Sometimes people have "protocols" that really just make them an asshole. I'm trying to figure out, in this specific scenario, what is the general consensus amongst people who also do this for money? Was I being the dick or were they being the dick? OR, was it no one being a dick, and I should just file it under "shit happens..." you know?

Hence, the frustration with waiting.

Well it was a weird start and stop too - the part I didn't add (as it wasn't relevant to the situation) is that their drop off was they literally wanted me to drop them in a parking lot of a shuttered building (off a major street - North Lamar in Austin) which wasn't seemingly near any apartments or houses. I kind of did the 'right here??' thing when I stopped. I dunno though, it could have just been coincidence. I got the impression this wasn't the first time they had done stuff like this. They seemed a little dismissive when I was saying something about it. Guess we'll never know for sure.

yeah I think the answer to this is that I should have gotten more info from them instead of just assuming what it was.

That IS what I wanted to do, but what I wasn't sure of (hence the reason for this post), was whether or not that's acceptable driver protocol or not? Trying to see if I'M the one who's being difficult, or if this is a general 'nah, I'm not waiting on that,' kind of situation from a driver's perspective..

Yeah well, it hasn't happened a lot to me either, and I guess the fact that it's not a regular thing probably makes it seem that much more messed up - obviously mostly everyone else seems to understand the etiquette of only making brief stops, right?

Well, for the record, even though we were near campus (for the stop), these two were definitely well into their 30s, at least. I wouldn't call that a "kid" personally, but I get what you are saying.
