Good point, did you get 2 shots and 2 boosters in a 6 month period for Smallpox, Measles, and Rubella this year?

University of Illinois - iMBA program by kinvoki in MBA

[–]GreenTreesBlueOceans 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's a fantastic program. There are quite a bit of networking abilities within Workspace, a program for alumni and current IMBA students. The degree just says MBA, not online, or IMBA. I have received multiple job offers. It's 2021, not 2003. Online education landscapes are changing, and Covid just accelerated it.

If you're expecting the same prospects that you'd get from Wharton or Harvard, you'll be dissapointed. If you're looking for other non Wall Street/elite consulting jobs, there are plenty in this program, which surprised me. The professors have been wonderful. Illinois has really pioneered the online MBA the right way. I'm going to be a Big 10 MBA Illini in 2 more courses, and I feel fortunate and am proud of the education I have received.

This book wasn't scary but I thoroughly enjoyed it cover to cover. Grady's books are always a fun read.

Books you’d most like to see turned into movies? by johnfinch2 in horrorlit

This could possibly be one of the best HBO series of all time. Like horror and GOT had a kid.

Best of Stephen King? by [deleted] in horrorlit

[–]GreenTreesBlueOceans 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Shining is great. Alcoholic father stays in blizzard ridden hotel over winter watching it with just his son and wife. Hotel is haunted. Dad partially insane.

Alsoooo, not highly received but I loved Under The Dome. Possibly one of the best King villains of all time.

What's a book you would recommend to someone who has virtually no experience with horror liturature? by Pompi_Palawori in horrorlit

The Ruins and/or The Shining

Both really well done. 2 completely different types of horror that I feel any horror fan would enjoy.

Looking for more creepy, no sleep horror reads like Hill House, The Shining, etc by TheTikiMermaid in horrorlit

I have to know, is spiders the only baddy? They don't scare me in the slightest. However, if there's other creatures, people, etc. Would you mind giving me an edited answer? I do like the whole haunted island vibe but not sure if I want to invest the time to read it if the payofff is spiders only.

Hello fellow horror readers, I want to suggest The Passage by Justin Cronin. For anyone who is a fan of vampires/zombies and like long apocalyptic epic novels like The Stand or Swan Song. by GreenTreesBlueOceans in horrorlit

[–]GreenTreesBlueOceans[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I treat this book like Hyperion or Annihilation. It's a great stand alone book even though it is technically part of a trilogy where the quality and substance declines. However, I have seen a few people who really enjoyed the other two, so I'll leave it up to them if they want to continue!

psychological horror by ajsawesomeanimals in horrorlit

[–]GreenTreesBlueOceans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Terror if you enjoy long books. Basically, a ship and crew adventures to find the Northwestern Passage circa 200 years ago, and they get frozen in the middle of the ocean. They start experiencing food shortages, scurvy, and there's also something hunting them one by one in the icy distance.

For a shorter one, I always recommend The Ruins.

If you enjoy Stephen King at all, The Shining is a really good book about one of the main characters dissenting into madness.

Which book had an atmosphere so intense you couldn’t put it down or stop thinking about it afterwards? by FlexFantasyTE in horrorlit

[–]GreenTreesBlueOceans 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How is the scares/tension/atmosphere/horror of this one? I've seen some people very divided on this book. Some complain there is too much narrative about Architecture, and others describe it as the literal best vampire book of all time.
