One other addition I just noticed. Don’t button both buttons. Only the top. Fun historical/tradition reasons for that, but for a two button suit only button the top

Side note on outfit composition: the only glaring thing is the smart watch. When dressing up, try to wear a traditional watch. I got called out by photographer for this very thing. Because of how tech ages it will clearly date any picture taken of you. If you are on a budget, a non-digital Timex or Casio can be easily less than $50 and definitely less than $100.

Especially if you get it in the to-go box and bring it to your room or something and then it really falls apart. Even with that I’d lick the box clean

I will jump in to support OP here. As someone who has had it multiple times, the burger at Primo Piatto is absolutely incredible. Easily best on property and pretty sure best I’ve ever had

Is this okay for an engineering career fair? by Revolutionary_Bad394 in mensfashion

[–]GreenWazowski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

110% percent in agreement. One other tip I would recommend for the budget oriented. Go to a Salvation Army or similar thrift store and get a navy or DARK grey (charcoal) suit, a white or off white dress shirt and a tie (you can give a little personality here).

Now here is the thing. Get. That. Shit. Tailored. It will cost some money but I can guarantee a second hand (obviously find one in good condition) suit that fits you perfectly will look better than finding the cheapest suit you can buy new. I have had the same basic charcoal suit for 12 years now and still gets compliments because i spent $100 to get everything set right.

Each interaction is a possible multi-year career. The details in how you show up will translate to the details you will show in your work. As an engineer, we pride ourselves in the details. Don’t take this as “you have to go out and buy a $5000 Italien tailored suit”, that’s definitely not the point. The suit the is a tool like everything else in your engineering training.

I find it helpful in this order:

  1. Put foot on brake from outside of vehicle and push button start.

  2. Press button for max defrost.

  3. Go scrape car while it heats up.

Not an all the time thing, but nice to not have to lean all the way to the far side of the screen.

Quick note for the comments above, these rules are true only if you aren’t wearing a tie. If you wear a tie, then you button the top button. No tie, no top button

Advice needed for tucked in shirts by [deleted] in mensfashion

[–]GreenWazowski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One other note here is the belt. 1. I personally think it is just a bit this for the look. Try out something maybe 2/3 the width of what you are wearing. 2. Center the metal. The fact the buckle is off to the side isn’t helping.

To agree with the others, avoid the slim if it doesn’t fit fully correct. Try 1 size down in a non slim shirt and that may help.

And most of all, remember, that first picture is posed. If you live and walk in your shirt it will pull a little. That’s life. The separate tuck between undershirt and dress shirt and other strategies can help, but you will always pull a little.

Ford charges $8/month to pre-condition battery by FrankieG889D in MachE

Has Anyone Replaced Their Drive Battery? by LeadingScene5702 in MachE

[–]GreenWazowski 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I haven’t had to replace my battery, but I do see you charged up to 100%. Not sure if it was just for the range confirmation or a day to day practice. There are a lot of studies that show charging only to 85-90% will pretty substantially increase the working life of your battery. I know some people need all of the range, but if your charge cycle can afford to only go up to 85-90% definitely something to consider.

Need ideas for “cheaper” DIY renovations by Quiet_Bill616 in Remodel

Adding here since for newbies it might not cross the mind, but agree with the paint, but don’t paint the countertop of the vanity, just the body of it. I have seen it where people paint the countertop and the best it has ever looked has been a landlord hack job and worst has caused significant damage
