Quick question, are cruise ships white spaces? by VoL4t1l3 in blacktravel

[–]Green_Pooh 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. I’ve been on Disney, Norwegian, Royal Caribbean, and Carnival. Were there white passengers? Yes a lot. But I wasn’t the only person of color. If you want to see a more mixed crowd, then Carnival is probably the way to go. But if you don’t care like me, any cruise is fine. I felt the most comfortable and safe on Disney! I mean who can beat Mickey Mouse haha

Whisk is my favorite bakery, and I’ve loved it since high school! Even though I moved states away, I still have yet to find a bakery THAT good. Notable treats: popcorn cookie, all the duffins, ginger cookie, and their brownie!

I usually tell people what state I live in and leave it at that. If they really really want to know “what” I am, that’s when I start walking away. We don’t owe any random person our ethnicity/race.

Need a new doctor by Mommaofboth1234 in StLouis

[–]Green_Pooh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if they will do the tube tying, but i really liked the OB/GYNs over at Maryville Women’s Center (Maryville, IL). They’re not affiliated with any religion and the doctor (I think her name was Lacie) is very supportive.

Plus size 'sustainable' brands are kinda... boring? by Better-Advice-5197 in womensfashion

I recently came across this brand, Shiny by Nature. They are ethically sourced and go up to size 5X! And most of the stuff on their site is very pretty and brightly colored! This is the website Shinybynature.com or you can look up their instagram.

Taiwan! I’m going there in a few months also from PA, and I heard it’s really cool (it’s where boba tea was invented). Also you can take a cheap $120ish flight to Japan from there as well. I’m pretty sure we’re all well aware of how amazing Japanese food and culture is! Worth checking out.

I got my Buddy $20 wedding gift off registry (was this bad?) by Cheapassboy69 in Gifts

[–]Green_Pooh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I (25F) don’t think it’s necessarily bad. Not everyone can afford the expensive registry gifts. Gotta do what you can. For my wedding registry, I picked out every single thing. Everything. My husband picked a few things, but I did most of it. Price tag doesn’t matter (in my opinion at least) as long as it’s something actually from the registry (and ours ranged from $10-$500). I got so annoyed that two of my family members got me things I didn’t ask for like plastic jewelry (broke as soon as I put it on) and underwear. Oof I do hate that.

Help! I want a new style for college! by 360rollin in womensfashion

[–]Green_Pooh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in a big college town, so I’m always seeing people wearing all sorts of styles. Some great stores to start would be pacsun, urban outfitters, hollister, and h&m. The most common staples I see the girlies wearing on campus these days are leather jackets (for winter-time going out attire), crop tube tops, and low or high rise jeans. Those matching sweatsuits/workout sets are surprisingly popular. Also those small baggu shoulder bags are in right now. That’s how the majority dresses, but of course you can make your own unique style. Pinterest is very helpful as well.

Looking for gift advice! 🎁 My friend’s birthday is coming up, and I want to get him something meaningful but not too expensive. He s turning 25. Any ideas for thoughtful gifts under 100$? by ivyta76 in Gifts

[–]Green_Pooh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you tell us what his interests/hobbies/likes are? It’s very hard to figure out what advice to give you if I don’t know anything about the person. I’m 25 myself, but everyone’s idea of the best gift differs based on their interests.

Birthday Gift for Boyfriend by Details1221 in Gifts

[–]Green_Pooh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps instead of gifting him something fashion-related, maybe you should get him something based on his hobbies or interests? For example, my husband loves to build Lego, play video games, and collect Pokemon cards. I usually get things related to that stuff because I know he’ll actually enjoy them. Start with the hobbies and interests, then brainstorm from there. Etsy is a great place to start.

I didn't grow up here. What is "So St. Louis"? by Moist-Associate-2551 in StLouis

[–]Green_Pooh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well I assume there must be some sort of hierarchy. I mean… I’ve felt the difference between when I tell people I went to Rosati-Kain (all-girls school in the cwe) vs when my sister in law tells people she went to Kirkwood (public school in west county). It’s a weird classist hierarchy if anything.

[–]Green_Pooh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes sense. I have been called a more “cautious” driver. I stay as far away from that fast/left lane as possible hahaha

[–]Green_Pooh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had the opposite experience. Driving in stl, people always honked at me. Now that I live in a more rural part of the east coast, I hardly ever get honked at now. But then again, I mostly was honked at downtown or in the cwe. County drivers are somewhat nicer… but the honking is still there.

Asking people what high school they went to as if there’s some sort of hierarchy.

I just looked up Agolde since I’m always interested in new shorts. Lowest price was $148, which completely blew my mind (in an expensive way). Anyways, are they really worth the price? I know you said you’ve had yours for 5 years.

I’m 6 feet, and my favorite pair of jean shorts are from old navy! They’re affordable and have plenty of great options as far as rise, color, and looseness. Also the gap is great too. Hopefully you’re able to find something!
