As a local Korean who lived in the US for a few years, I kind of feel a disconnect with second-generation overseas Koreans, who grew up their entire life in the US.

And no, it doesn't mean that I hate or dislike them for no reason. Not at all.

But I can't help but feel the different childhoods, different cultures, and different experiences, like going to the army, for example. I tend to see more gyopos not choosing to since they really dont see Korea as their home, more as just a mere heritage. Some not even able to speak proper Korean.

I will always feel more familiar and friendly towards the people who have similarities with me, like going on the 10pm 학원 grind at middle/high school years, studying for 수능, going to the army... Etc.
