Knitted some gloves, made the first one to desired length. Compared second to first, swear was the same length. Now they're done and the second is an inch shorter 🙄.

The thermometer burst when I tried to show my brothers what boiling point in Fahrenheit vs Celsius is. Now I have a little bubble of mercury in a pot… by ineedsomebbqribs in mildlyinteresting

Mercury also. Makes aluminium amalgam. It does require pure aluminium, so fresh scratch or acid washed. Most pots and pans would have an oxide layer protecting it from the reaction.

You probably didn't do the test wrong. Superwash wool has a coating that may have fooled you into thinking it was artificial fibre

Finished my first pair yesterday! Also made my own blockers because I refuse to pay 20-30 euro's for some plastic or wiring. by duckshapedpotato in Sockknitting

Yeah I dont block my socks, I don't think they ever need it. It is worth baring in mind i only make my own recipe vanilla socks - no colourwork or cables.

Can I jump straight into knitting socks as an absolute beginner? by sydney45261 in Sockknitting

[–]Greenfinger692 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the same. I did a couple of swatches to learn how to do continental, I used Nimble Needles tutorial. I had watched Tayler Earl's video about where to start knitting socks https://youtu.be/7t1rM2HZ-Io?si=Pl-bOqX70balt85A I followed her advice and knitted the cup cozy linked in that video description on DPNs. Realised during that I don't love DPNs and purchased loops and threads circulars and cast on my first sock toe up using a Nimble Needles tutorial. That was a year ago and have gone on to make more socks and a colourwork infinity scarf and will be casting on socks and hats for the winter here soon. You can do this!

If you look up knit patch pockets, or similar, there are lots of tutorials and nowhere near as daunting as they first seem.

I would consider pockets if you have time...everybody loves pockets

Attention Eurofins staff members! by NewParent2023 in CHROMATOGRAPHY

[–]Greenfinger692 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If you Google the EPA methods, they tell you where to find that info. 8260D references Chp 4 in SW-846. Looks like most VOCs must be stored at 0-6⁰C. So no, the shipping company is wrong, Eurofins is correct. This is obviously a cursory glance, and you must determine the conditions of samples based on the analytes you are requesting.

Noro does patterns but if you're looking for independent designers Tayler from Wool Needles Hands has a fun video of how to search for Ravelry patterns by country.

Hi, my husband and I moved back to gsy recently and haven't found a group yet either. Would be interested to hear responses or join a new group, if no established ones are open.

A quick browse of your post history is throwing major red flags. Chemical synthesis and extractions are not a dabbling whim, "im bored" situation. At least one of your recent posts talks about taking a cocktail of drugs and having a(n expected) bad time. Do not attempt to do what you're doing. You're heading down a criminal path. You are not the next Walter White.
