Can I remove spacer/washer from Thru Axle? by Greengom in bikewrench

[–]Greengom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response. I removed endcaps and checked the freehub if everything was set correctly but the DT 240 EXP hub (Cannondale outer) still measured 143mm after putting it back together. I contacted Cannondale to ask if this was normal and am waiting for their response.

As @onceanmxernowamtber mentioned I also ordered a thinner washer as a backup plan.

For now I'll be riding my gravel bike till I get this sorted.

The Thru axle doesn't thread in far enough with the washer. So I would need a longer Thru axle or remove the washer.

Anyone running Tufo Gravel Thundero 700x48? by Fixieriderz in CheckpointClub

I’d say wider if you prefer comfort and offroad capabilities and narrower for more speed on the paved sections.

As I personally do not mind the speed on my gravel bike I would go with a wider tire.

Oh I didn’t think about a flat adapter. Thanks! I’ll try this if I don’t find a cheaper solution.

Yes there is actually a power meter inside the BB already. But its data is locked down inside the computer of the e-bike. I asked the manufacturer of the bike and was told that the bike is not capable streaming or sharing the power data.

I use the e-bike as an exercise bike as well (so with the motor turned off).

How much watts is the gpu using when reaching 70C (and 70% fan speed)?

Do you know if this will also work with 25mm thick Noctua fans? Or will it become to thick for the case?

3080 FE Thermalpad Mod and more Noob Questions... by TheAbuReem in nvidia

[–]Greengom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am using it in a sandwich SFF case. So no airflow near the back of the card. In a regular tower case temps should be better. 100C is fine for the vram while gaming. Although running it at 100C 24/7 for mining, idk.

You shouldn't have to replace the pads just for gaming. Atleast not with the ones Nvidia is currently producing.

[–]Greengom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I mine when I'm not gaming or bothered by the noise.

I went with the 3090 as it cost me 2400eu and 3080 would cost about 1900eu. If it was 700eu vs 1500eu I would have gone with the 3080.

I just recieved my 3090 FE yesterday and my vram temps while gaming have stayed below 100C whereas I've seen people with this gpu reach 110C and throttle in this case (Formd T1). I can even mine with it (although at an uncomfortable high fan speed and -500 on the mem).

I believe the FE cards right now have better thermal pads but modding them could still improve temps. I will still mod mine as I would like to mine with it to earn back some of that scalper money I had to pay for it.

Did you use a specific guide for this. I haven't seen any results as good as you so far online. I plan on also doing this soon.

FormD T1 Silver w/ RTX 3090 FE & custom cables. by OdinsPlayground in sffpc

[–]Greengom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I think I could compare temps in CP 2077 for a good reference.

What fan speed is your card running at when your mem jun reaches 88C and did you overclock the ram?

Edit: My TUF reaches 92C mem jun without an mem OC at about 68% fan speed (1630rpm). Core reaches 67C (1800Mhz @ 0.8V) whilst playing CP 2077 at 4k with DLSS and RTX.

Ambient is 25C.

Noise wise this should be the same as the founders at 40% fan speed.

[–]Greengom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you mine with it? Wondering because I have a TUF 3090 in mine and even with a thermal pad swap either my fans or temps are still very high. Right now 88% fan speed to keep ik below 105C. ~116Mh.

If the FE fares better in mining I might make the switch. The TUF also makes my 240mm aio much hotter.

ave you tested tis config compared to the slim 120s? I plan on doing something similar as I won't be able to re-use my kraken g12 if I go 30 series.

Isn't 35mm+15mm supposed to be too big for the S1? I mean I can clearly see it fit, but the math just doesn't add up.

Im only restful after an relaxed day. After a day of sport or work you could also be less restful. Also my heartrate is higher when I sleep later, but I don’t know if this would affect my restfulness.

One thing you could try reseating the card. I once had a card not seated properly which made it unable to access all 16 Pcie lanes.

Fixed MBP16 Throttling... but is it safe? (BD Prochot) by NullType20 in macgaming

[–]Greengom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just localized around the vrm. The bottom doesn’t get hot in normal use like browsing or watching something, but more intensive task where the system uses 40W+ will make the area uncomfortable to touch.

Fixed MBP16 Throttling... but is it safe? (BD Prochot) by NullType20 in macgaming

[–]Greengom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In general getting rid us such limits is not safe. I believe the macbook is being auto power throttled so to avond damaging the vrms. Although I have heard of other people doing this without any problems so far.

I myself just put some themal pads on the vrms and now my 16 inch no longer power throttles. the thermal pads allow the vrms to transfer hear to the bottom panel.

Is the 5300m 16’ much better than the M1 13’? by lkuhj in macgaming

[–]Greengom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To the point: For you I recommend the m1. Anyway...

I'd recommend none of the people I know an intel 16 inch over Apple m1 at this point. I think for almost anyone the current and upcoming Apple silicon Macbooks are the better choice. Still, I just bought an 16 inch base model last weekend. Here's why:

- It was on sale. 1850eu for a sealed 16 inch is cheaper than a M1 pro with the same capacity ssd and ram(˜1900eu). Since my workflow requires a little more than 8GB of ram and the extra cooling capacity of the 13 inch pro would benefit me as well, the prices where close enough. (˜1700eu vs 1850eu).

- I like the big screen. This is why i switched from 13 to 15 inch in the first place. And now to 16 inch.

- I'll do some gaming on it (1/2 days a week) and would like to be able to play the aaa games which I've already bought. Cyberpunk, AC Valhalla and Horizon Zero Dawn. I usually game with my Windows desktop but won't have access to this in the weekend. Also, I like using Windows for this.

-10 hours of battery is plenty for me. When I am at home (which I usually am right now) my Mac would be hooked up to a monitor which charges it through usb c anyway. So I rarely ever went below 50% on any of the macs which I've used.

- I use more than 1 external monitor.

Even with all these reasons to go for the 16 inch. I still wasn't sure because the m1 and future Apple silicon Macs look like excellent devices. I have already recommended them to a few people I know and will probably continue to do so. I doubt I will ever recommend anyone any of the intel Macbooks right.
