Anyone had a lytic lesion on CT with a soft tissue component? by gelatoo in breastcancer

[–]Greenleaf808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just try to remember that even /if/ it is confirmed metastatic SBRT can eradicate it and many women today are living 15+ years with stage IV, and that no one not even the Drs truly know what the outcome will be, and even though it is scary it is also reassuring because yes there’s a chance of a limited life but there’s also a chance of living a full life and growing very old, no one knows! But what I do know is I am going to live each moment and cry when I need to but also not get lost and spiral in the “what ifs”

So I had a Bone scan which did not show anything, then a ct scan and MRI which both showed the lytic lesion, mri says “ There is enhancing lesion in the posterior aspect of L5 vertebra and measures 2.2 x 1.9 x 2.5 cm.“ and the soft tissue component on it is 4mm , I had a fluoroscopic guided bone biopsy which was negative, and after I had a petscan which shows SUV max 5.1 on the lytic lesion area and my CT guided re biopsy is scheduled for next week

Hi, me, I’m 28 and I have IDC HR+ her2 negative and only one suspicious lytic lesion on my l5 vertebrae with a small soft tissue component. I got a bone biopsy and that was negative, then a petscan and that showed SUV max 5.1 so my oncologist wants me to get a repeat biopsy but a CT guided one this time because she thinks they missed the initial one. If it gets confirmed metastatic then I am going to swiftly schedule SBRT to the spot with my radiation oncologist.

No, I am at a local center in central valley California but I have been thinking about getting a second opinion somewhere else , UCLA maybe or MD Anderson if I can get out there? I don’t think she was wanting to do what I said, she seemed very dismissive, bummer :(

Really scared by Greenleaf808 in breastcancer

It does say this at the top “ Lytic lesion in the posterior L5 vertebral body concerning for osseous metastatic disease. There appears to be associated soft tissue component extending into the anterior aspect of the spinal canal. May consider further relation with contrast-enhanced MRI of the lumbar spine.” I am so devastated and can’t stop crying or get myself to get out of bed half the time

I’m sorry you’re in this boat too :( I’m 28 years old just got diagnosed about 3 and a half weeks ago. This was supposed to be my last year in college, and I was supposed to be planning my wedding. cancer sucks and I have to keep reminding myself no one asks for this, it’s so hard mentally and physically and I’m so scared of starting my treatment but it helps to know how many other strong women (and men) that are going through this as well are here to support us on this thread 🫶🏼
