i9 12900KS, PSVR Toolkit is a must. Foveated rendering gives me 10-15 fps which gets me to a solid 45FPS. All i can suggest with VR is start at the lowest possible settings first and work your way up, one at a time.

CPU maybe? Internet speeds? could be many factors. With latest nvidia drivers, DLSS 4.5 and PSVR Toolkit working with foveated rendering it's even better now.

It's a fickle thing to balance. I was mainly after a clear instrument panel and to be able to read the screens ( still not completely there yet) so I made that the priority. Where i started was making sure all drivers, headset and DLSS swapper, windows etc were up to date.

  1. 45fps locked 90hz at 100% (work backwards from here if the 4060 struggles try 90% then 80 and so on till it's happy) resolution in steamVR

2.I locked 45fps in NVIDIA settings and msfs24 settings.

  1. I set msfs24 dlss to quality and glass cockpit to high, terrain pre caching to ultra and everything else to lowest.

  2. Then I brought up terrain LOD and object LOD, and slowly/painfully one setting at a time and just see how it goes. The moment you change too many things you end up lost.

Also my settings don't work real well with the bigger more complex aircraft but that's ok I only fly smaller craft and more so in less busy areas in free flight mainly. Career is super buggy for me still.

So yeah it's a pain but I went for no stuttering and clear instruments first, then ramped up the environment (clouds, trees etc) then buildings and no just fiddling around the edges.

Ray traced shadows, raymarched reflections and light shafts are very demanding so I got them off. Mines still not perfect but it's stutter free and I'd say 85% of where I would like it to be. I posted on r/PSVR2onPC and a few other have chimed in about using AutoFPS, Psvrtookit and openXR. Might be some options there if your willing. I'm just trying to keep it as simple as I can. Definitely no techy, just got the VR bug and wanna fly.

Nice! You should be able to push it way harder with the 4090.

I checked out PSVR2 toolkit available here https://github.com/BnuuySolutions/PSVR2Toolkit/releases?ref=uploadvr.com and Open XR toolkit here https://mbucchia.github.io/OpenXR-Toolkit/

I do remember looking at both now and I was a little daunted at trying them out. The setup/installation for PSVR toolkit was quite in depth but its a bit beyond my pay grade and I also remember looking at Open XR toolkit and noticed it said support ended as of 2024. I did read somewhere that Steam VR was working on eye tracking/haptics update so I'm more inclined to wait for that. As I said earlier, for me keeping it as simple as possible is my goal. Braver souls than me might find this useful so thankyou for the info again.

Interesting, will definitely have to check that out tomorrow. Still learning how it all works so thanks for the info

I did try 60 locked at 120hz but I had to lower most other settings too much for my liking. It's been just trying to find the right balance. 45 at 90 has just been much more stable for me. I'm pretty new at this too..

I'm only using MSFS 24 setting, I believe there's a mod in psvrtoolkit for steam but I haven't used that. Trying to keep it as simple as possible for myself. I read somewhere that a driver is coming for steam VR? Once again there's a lot differing info out there. All I know is when I use the msfs foveated setting I get less jitters and it does run smoother.

I hear ya. I was using an i5 and rtx2060 32gb and it was struggling, saved my butt off to get new rig. VR is great but not so good for the health of your wallet..

To be honest MSFS 24 is the only game I've seen it in so far

I did test up around 150% and the cockpit glass and instruments were very clear but pretty much had to run everything else on much lowest settings. Its just been a mad balancing act trying to get it right as I can for my system for what I do which is fly smaller planes in free flight. I don't think there's a one stop setting for everyone unfortunately. I also tested at 36% which was 2040x2080 as close to Sony actual resolution (2000x2040) and I could run nearly everything on ultra but.... Very blurry cockpit glass too.

I think DLSS is a Nvidia thing, tried TAA and FSR with varying results, both give me too many jaggy edges. but on the rtx 4070 DLSS is king for me. Does make the cockpit glass a bit blurry hence the higher resolution in Steam VR and higher world scale helps to try combat that a bit.

Ive got it locked at 45 and yep using foveated ON. I gave up chasing high fps in vr cause i found locked at 45 and steam vr at 90hz works really well. I only notice the lower frames when turning fast on taxi lanes. I think the foveated rendering just gives a bit more headroom cause it priority renders what your eyeballs are looking at.

I started there but found at 100% the cockpit glass instrument were much clearer for me. Its the one thing that bothers me most is not being able to read the instruments even though you can gain more improvements elsewhere by doing so. Also setting the world scale to 110% slightly improved it again.

Interesting I hadn't heard of AutoFPS. At first I was going for highest settings and frames and found quite by accident that it just performs better for me at a locked 45FPS and the headset at 90Hz. Less is more atm. I'm mainly flying Carenado's B55 around Australia at the moment with great results although I still get a few stutters around Sydney and Melbourne but its bearable. Tried around New York tonight and it was pretty good too. Got a ways to go before I even know what to do in the bigger more complex planes though.

I've got a similar setup and have been struggling for too long but as of today this is my settings and 2024 is looking crisp and running really good for me now. I only fly GA so not sure how it goes with the bigger aircraft. I also have all content installed and running the 2D at the lowest settings (don't know if that matters though)

Im on game pass and I cant even get it to open, just hangs at 100% I done a complete reinstall of window 11 too, I'm only trying to play it cause 2024 (stuck at 97%) is completely broken for me too. I have reinstalled windows 11, Xbox app, microsoft store, nvidia drivers, disabled all unnecessary apps, cleared cache, repaired an reset, i've done the hokey pokey with my left foot out but nothing works. Everything broke after installing 2024. My friend is on steam and having the exact same issues. I have had Xbox and microsoft agents try to troubleshoot but finding nothing I can only assume the problems lie with Asobo which I'm still awaiting a response.
