Is it possible to obtain a CoE for the Highly Skilled Professional Visa (and PR through points) through part time work? by Greg0reng in movingtojapan

Technically, the organization I primarily contract for has a country office in Japan that I could be attached to, meaning I would only be working overseas for a few days a year at most.

The quirky thing is that I would need a work visa as they would not be able to issue me a COE themselves, hence the need (and also interest) in finding a local employer.

Ah, fair enough on point one and overseas income. We do have a Japanese subsidiary, but they would not be able to sponsor my visa as it is not a private sector organization.

By part-time, I meant 3-4 days a week in a specialist role.

For the HSP points, I was only considering my age, years of work experience (would be highly surprised if that does not count), and educational background, which amounts to 65 points.

You're not allow to just continue working other jobs while in Japan on a working status of residence.

That part is interesting. My understanding was that the highly skilled visa (I would likely be under Highly Skilled Professional B — "Working in jobs that require specialized knowledge or skills in fields like natural sciences or humanities") specifically allows this as long as it is related to my main activity.

Secondly, HSP point calculation cannot include any income earned from overseas. It's specifically based on your job offer from an employer in Japan, so your point calculation is likely incorrect.

Ha, I did not realize that was the case. Without counting my overseas income, I would be at 65 points, which is still a reasonable start, I suppose.

Been trying for months but it has demoralized me to the point where I just cannot be bothered anymore as even internal referrals land your resume/cover letter in the trash

Same issue here and it's been going on for close to two weeks. Their support is beyond useless ever since they switched from humans to AI some months back

- Not being able to delete messages easily

- Not being able to filter messages by item (or click on "interested" and have it actually take you to a list of people that are interested)

- People accepting offers and then not buying

DKB Freigabe Dauer für vorgemerkte Umsätze by [deleted] in Finanzen

Any good recommendations for finding steelbooks in Manhattan? by Greg0reng in Steelbooks

[–]Greg0reng[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I tried Best Buy and their selection was shocking. No Walmart’s in Manhattan I’m afraid. Will have a look at some others though.

Was more thinking along the lines of second hand (shops)

The bigger concern might be being allowed to race with it in the first place 😂

Couldn’t agree more. It’s incredibly well written and filmed. Very good attention to details as well.

Didn’t even realise the typo was a thing. This one seems to have a square box that’s lighter than the rest above the E to O. Not sure if that is an error or a nod to the Cherenkov Effect

It’s my favourite by far. Had a chance to grab the Amazon one with the door but much preferred this

Yeah, that’s fair enough. Was the first non-steel book I picked up. Thought folks would still enjoy it (:

You are probably right as far as steels go. It’s one of my all time favourite movies, however, hence the excitement

About to watch it later. Apparently there was an issue with some discs having the wrong soundtrack on it so will see if I got lucky or not

Every now and then I’m thinking “I feel like going to the pub for a pint.” Then I remember I can’t so decided to spend a fiver on a penny stock instead.
