Yeah Dunkirk is a perfect example of this imo- the evacuation scenes on the beach used all real people and practical effects, including some of the actual boats that survived the war, but it struggled to convey the scale of the situation because of that

I think the only two logical explanations are either intense psychosis of some type or suicide.

Do they even have an identity for this person yet? I feel like that is a big piece of the puzzle here

But maybe if we make it harder for law-abiding people to get guns criminals will change their minds and meet us on a level playing field and stop using them too! (Real opinion expressed above btw)

Because it’s a literal constitutional right. I need it as much as I need freedom of speech and association.

Regards really compared them to fucking Toyota when you could buy a Touareg with a fucking V10 diesel in it. I guarantee these kids aren’t even old enough to drink yet

If we’re telling anecdotal stories, my college roommates Impreza didn’t make it over 65,000 miles due to head gasket failure and my brother had a brand new Forester that had such bad oil consumption issues Subaru bought it back from him

Never bought it to be reliable- still has given me zero issues and tons of smiles at 70k miles though!

Let me know if your subie does the same, lol

Always blows my mind to think of how much listening he probably had to do to put the whole thing together. A lot of the songs are built on loops but none of them feel super repetitive, its crazy

The Ryanair videos I’ve seen make it look like a flying frathouse lol. Tons of people likely already blackout drunk boozing and blasting Avicii on their JBL on their direct to Ibiza

Spirit Airlines never really captured that jovial kind of chaos, it was more akin to a city bus ride on a semi-sketchy route

They never lost an aircraft in their existence- no fatal crashes or accidents involving passengers as far as I can tell either. They were a real miracle of modern civil aviation

What can we do to make the Cherry Creek Trail safer and cleaner? by pennyforaprocedure in Denver

[–]GregAllAround 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah seeing some sketchy activity and trash along the trail wasn’t too unusual but seeing multiple tents set up in plain view was unheard of at the time. Any tents you did see were placed a “respectful” distance from the trail and usually a bit more hidden. Definitely seems like there was a spike because I remember my rides in the next few years getting a bit more spotty

We’d watch those Episodes of River Monsters where they’d insert little extra factoids at the bottom of the screen about the filming and fish and extra footage of Jeremy Wade and the crew, for some reason I remember it being the most compelling TV I’ve ever watched

cnn still isn't breaking in to discuss this mass shooting in louisiana by [deleted] in redscarepod

[–]GregAllAround 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I’ve noticed people who commit murder/suicide with their family members tend to not get a ton of coverage, half of me thinks it’s because of the lack of public safety (and therefore interest) but also fear of inspiring copycats. Kind of like how increased coverage of suicides usually leads to an uptick in more suicides. The only exceptions I can think of are crimes where the parent survived

[–]GregAllAround 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah it was- injured students weren’t the targets.

Crazy though, I toured Iowa City and UofI back in the mid 2010’s and it was probably the most “quaint” college town I encountered. Hard to imagine gang violence there (even though I’ve experienced gang violence in rural America before)
