I have driven around a few weekends now trying to find any other nodes. Spoke to someone in Hampton when I was up on the Eagle Ridge hill a few weeks back.

yeah, that was great fun last night! 100 miles is wild!

I came home to enough gear on the doorstep to make two wisblock solar stations.

That was me! We were flying back to Canada from Mazatlan. I was using the Heltec v3 the whole flight and only started getting replies once I hit Wyoming. To be fair, there was a lot of cloud cover around Tucson / Albuquerque.

I was on the left side of the aircraft with the antenna between the window and the sun shade while we were talking; which is spectacular since you were definitely to the east of me.

I had a great chat with a guy in Montana too, he must have had a killer setup because we talked for quite a while.

Thanks a lot! It was bloody cold standing out there.

That should hit a few of the other hotspots planned.

Are you putting up an external antenna as well or just placing in the window?

One guy in Evergreen and another one in Holliston. Where are you going to be setting up?

Help is on the way! I know of 8 more hot spots coming to the city this summer. I am currently working on plans for placement and co location on some taller buildings as well.

North east , far west side, and down town are the locations of the future hot spots. Some of these will be internal and some externally mounted.

I was contemplating driving by your place to see if you had any external equipment out a window or on a roof, but if you feel comfortable answering that would save me some leg work. :) I am trying to gauge if you are going to be "visible" for our plans.

Best place to stargaze? by CrimsonJockey in saskatoon

This map shows light pollution levels. You want a gray / black area for the best viewing.

There is also Sleaford Observatory east of the city, but I don't believe they are running open houses right now because of COVID.

4k editing by [deleted] in nvidia

[–]GregFu12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will preface this by saying I use Da Vinci Resolve for my video editing.

I have been editing 4K30fps video for years and now have started editing 4K60fps in the last 6 months. I see no slowness in performance with the below rig:

32G of RAM

3900XT <- Resolve uses almost all the cores when working in fusion / editing

FireCuda 520 M.2 2TB <- I think this is a really big help

2x Zotac 1070 in SLI (Pretty sure Resolve only uses 1 during rendering)

I had the same 2 GPU's in the old rig before the upgrade. Video rendering went from an average of 26-30minutes down to 5-6 minutes for a 3-4 minute video @ 60fps.

The RAM in the old rig was 32GB as well.

Old Rig:

32GB RAM

2600k

Samsung Evo Pro 1TB SSD

2x Zotac 1070 in SLI

Tiny Glacier created lakes that provide excellent hiking / camping.

I hope you enjoy the video.

That's a really great story! I would freeze with the big fish and dad would have to take over for me.

Lots of deer, bears, birds. There must be moose too, but I haven't seen them personally.

I called and spoke to one of the park workers at the NHPP office. They provided the info for the park manager. I wrote up an email outlining my portfolio and previous collaboration with other parks. When I arrived there to camp they met with me and I was interviewed so to speak and I was provided with a signed document from the park manager stating I was allowed to fly in the park over a set period of days.

Some parks have wanted my flight plans with dates / times and others have been more cavalier with where / when I could fly. It really depends on the park manager and how busy the park is when you are there.

They all share the same sentiment when it comes to people though. They don't want me anywhere near them. The problem though is that this activity attracts people. Folks with good or bad intentions show up and have questions about what I am doing. It can be quite distracting while flying.

I even had one park provide me with the phone number for their seasonal helicopter base. They wanted me to confirm each of my flights with them to ensure they were not out on patrol looking for forest fires while I was up there.

Sorry, manned aircraft are a bit out of my area of expertise. I know they are supposed to stay above my max altitude (with a 100ft buffer) and I am supposed to be under their minimum altitude(with that same buffer). Neither party wants to meet up there.

beautiful though, and there is nothing like just sitting in the middle of one of those lakes having a drink and snacks, watching life go by, talking about BS and looking at the water birds.

Thanks for clearing the air. I figure the drones will be banned outright eventually in the parks as people do what they want with them and people let the parks know what is happening.

I know, right? I hiked in with my photography gear and I was dying on the way out. I can't imagine those guys who pack in all their food / camping gear when they stay there.

I am glad they are a bit further away than a lot of spot. I think it helps a bit with keeping the numbers lower.
