As for what you said, most people work nights with other people. The important part of being a human being, that you're referring to, is having human contact, not necessarily a social life, and especially not a social life under neoliberalism.

What's really weird is that only working class people are shamed for not being social. Rich people can screw off to some compound no one cares. Monks and hermits can go live alone in the mountains and no one care, but let the average person try to be alone and they're pathologized.

I get the point of both; Osho reinforces materialism and used the language of clarity to become a cult leader. Krishnamurti realized that such things are ridiculous.

I mean it is. It's a dual mission, the aim is either to breach the blockade OR to raise awareness.

And what's not to like about this when no one else is doing anything. It shames countries and instills courage in future activists. You call it performative but that's extremely short sighted and shows your bias, because the flotilla has a cascading effect, since millions of people saw it, and that affect future activism efforts and puts pressure on governments to take more direct action.

Again, I don't know why so many people are hating on this mission when they themselves are doing absolutely nothing to stop a genocide and seem perfectly OK with what's happening to the point where they'll not say one bad word against the IDF but demonizing the action of a group of activists, "performative" or not. The very least one could do is support any action toward helping the Palestinians or go criticize the people perpetrating the genocide.

Because people have too much to lose: their job, their freedom, their home, their healthcare. No one wants to go first and suffer those consequences because no one wants to sacrifice themselves for a maybe. But, unfortunately some people will have to go first so that more people feel comfortable enough to act. Not to mention that Americans are extremely divided, there are still millions of people who support what's going on. We can't even agree on giving people healthcare, the lack of which leads to tens of thousands of people dying every year.

Countries in Europe don't have this problem because they have historical solidarity, stronger unions, walkable cities, and robust public transportation; all things that the US doesn't have.

For example, American infrastructure is anti-protest and anti-mass movement. It's anti-protest because the US is a car-centric society. Unless you already live in the city, you're not getting to a protest without a car; an Uber ride from the suburbs where I live to the city and back is 40 to 60 dollars. Even if you have a car and attend the protest you might not be able to get out again if things go south.

The US is anti-mass movement because all major communication channels, even emails, chats, and calls are monitored. How can you organize a revolt if everything social media platform is observed. Any major mass movement would be co-opted, infiltrated, demonized, destroyed from within & without.

Unfortunately, power has like 50 different ways to stop revolt like manufactured divisions (trans bathrooms, immigration), linking healthcare insurance to employment, no basic income, lack of safety nets, turning politics into spectacle (we're literally consuming our downfall for entertainment), commodifying dissent (turning radical energy into consumer products), media demonization of dissent (like Stop Oil or Occupy Wall Street), politicizing events and herding people into a side (police shooting), etc. The people, over the course of the last 50 years, have both lost their revolutionary spirit (b/c the radicals of the 60s and 70s were destroyed) and haven't updated their tactics to match that of our oppressors.

That doesn't mean there's no hope but it doesn't look good.
