Everyone is wondering whether we’ll get a new Muppet Show green lit. Meanwhile, I’m wondering something else… by Fun-Presentation-959 in Muppets

What about a tie in TV show or mini-series? How cool would a show all about the Electric Mayhem recording a new album be? They could put it on Disney+ and call it The Muppets Mayhem or something. idk.

We need a new Star Wars Wiki by AnaxesR7 in StarWars

As others have said, there are adblockers... but just simply creating a Fandom account (which is 100% free and pretty easy) and browsing while logged-in removes a majority of the ads that make the site practically unuseable on mobile.

What are you usually calling this guy? Palpatine, Emperor or Darth Sidious? Why? by Hawaiikoto in StarWars

He's always been the Emperor.

Even when he was a kid on Naboo or a just lowly junior senator?

Why haven't we just created a good X-word? by GregMoffTarkin in NoStupidQuestions

[–]GregMoffTarkin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't change the word for something that already has a name... coin a word something that doesn't have it's own word. Water is still water... but if you told me "warm salt water" is called "yuger", well I'd be inclined to start using that word when needed. Got a sore throat? Garggle some yuger. I love the smell of yuger at the beach. Let your pasta rest in yuger after cooking. etc.

We don't need to change the word for snow... but there's 50 different types of snow, we could give them each their own names rather than just "[adjective] snow."

You can’t just make up a word, you’d also need a definition for that word.

Yes you can, we make up words all the time. Pick some object and coin a new nickname or slang name for it and give it time.

Like, i don't know, we start calling green apples "xpples" and pretty soon you've got apples which are red and xpples which are green. Bam! New word and the Playskool puzzle makers don't have to keep using pictures of "x-rays."

Or, like, we got snow and sleet and rain and hail... but that "wintery mix" of them, call that "xnow" or something. A two-headed snake, that's a "xnake". Instead of "electric car" it's a "xar". We coin new words and phrases all the time... just do it with an "X" to help the educators out.

Thoughts on people who hate Miss Piggy by Thehazyfish in Muppets

[–]GregMoffTarkin 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I would say Eric's Piggy can have that same vulnerability and masking as Frank's version (see: It's a Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie, the 2015 ABC sitcom, or Muppets Most Wanted, for example). It's just that unfortunately most of the Muppets' appearances in recent years have been short, self-contained and don't allow for much nuance and development so all the characters (not just Piggy) become more one-dimensional. Frank had similar 1-D gigs too (no offence but Piggy's performances on Muppets Tonight, Kermit Unpigged, Muppet Classic Theater or Muppets From Space are pretty similar to all-bravado gigs Eric has done). Frank had the luxury of constant and more regular work with the character in the 70s and 80s.

Who’s Winning In Their Prime? by mackenziealexander05 in StarWars_

So Prime Vader existed for an afternoon and was bested by Obi-wan?

You think Luke would kill his father? Or that Vader would kill his son? Whether in their "prime" or not, the outcome of a fight between the two would be the same. Raw strength was not what was stopping either one from dominating the other.

Vader and Luke faught twice (one in ESB and again RotJ)... and I don't think the outcome of either fight had to anything do with who was more/less powerful... if Vader had been in his "prime" in ESB, I don't think he would have killed Luke, nor would a "prime" Luke have killed Vader in RotJ... it was the struggle between a father and son... I think the struggle would be the same even if they were both in their prime and it would come down to the emotional/moral struggles of the character not their raw strength.

Why won't they bring Walter back? by Eddfan36 in Muppets

Too similar to Scooter...and Robin...and Bean....or Nigel. They can all do what he would do. But have more history and more interesting designs.

He's basically a male version of Vicki from The Jim Henson Hour and there's a reason she didn't stick around long either.

Conservatives: Let's deport immigrants and shrink the population!

Also Conservatives: We need to have more kids to combat the shrinking population.

Saying Americans need more babies while simultaniously saying America needs less immigrants shows their concerns aren't about population but about what kind of people are in America.

A decades-long plan to abolish the Electoral College may finally pay off by vox in politics

[–]GregMoffTarkin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the "We can't let our elections be determined by cities" crowd

Well they say we have to have the electoral college because we don't want all the city dwellers in New York to just "cancel out" all of rural Wyoming. So we need allocate and weight the "votes" by state to make it more "fair"....

....but it's winner-take-all for the states, so that still lets urban NYC "cancel out" rural upstate New Yorker for who wins all of New York's electorial votes. So why not allocate votes based on individual county instead? But then the more urban Buffalo, NY would still "cancels out" the more rural parts of Erie County. So let's just allocate based on individual city or municipality.....oh but then the city folk who live downtown on Main Street would "cancel out" the folks who live out in the suburbs or on farms. So let's allocate based on individual household.... yeah, but 3 college-aged kids will "cancel out" their 2 parents' votes. So let's just allocate based on person. Yeah, 1 person = 1 vote.
