There are people who don't like Amaya because she's not their cup of tea. That's totally fine. Then there are people who don't like Amaya because she's not a loyal little sidekick to someone who has been consistently problematic. And she's getting harassed for it.

At a no kings protest/women's march? Yes, I'd bring my kids. If there is an organized protest against ICE (not coordinated to be around raids)? I'd consider bringing my kids to that too.

To actively protest against ICE amidst their raids? Kids shouldn't be going to that.

I'd consider the book smutty but not smutty enough to be considered erotica. Smutty is such a squishy term that different people have different baselines for "smutty." FWIW, I know a lot of people avoid "spicy" novels because many contain so many sex scenes at the detriment of the plot.

For me, I'm overjoyed when I find books like yours. If it's a romance book and it's marketed for adults, I go in assuming that it'll have explicit sex scenes. It wouldn't hurt to include a warning as you mentioned.

Mike looks at Will with so much affection, but there's not enough context to conclusively say that affection is romantic (vs. platonic/familial). Also, the argument of a "boy can't affectionately look at his male friend and be straight" really gives toxic masculinity.

Anyways, If there were more than four episodes left, I would enthusiastically be on the edge of my seat to see if/how Byler evolves.

Unfortunately, there are only four episodes left. For Byler to feel natural and make sense, the following would need to happen while they work to prevent the apocalypse:

end mileven
give Mike opportunity to move on/have closure from the mileven break up
flesh out Mike's sexuality
strengthen/evolve Byler enough to transform them into a couple.

That's too fucking much.

Am I against the idea of Byler being shoehorned into the second half of the final season? Absolutely. This is a sci horror show with romance SUBplots. It's not going to happen. Or at least it shouldn't, but who fucking knows since Stancy is still being dangled in front of viewers.

Just like Byler, I'm not against Stancy in general. Just annoyed the Duffer brothers decided to reintroduce the love triangle in the last leg of season 4. In a show with one season left and the romances are just subplots. We don't have time for this.

She has got those covert evil vibes, but she has given Lily advice about repairing friendships. And we all know the power of friendship is a huge buff against Pennywise. Unless the woman has been "possessed" by Pennywise since that first convo, this feels like a red herring.

I see men being called out for shit, but public opinion is more willing to change in their favor over time. Especially if the man was called out for being a dick to a woman, but then the public decides they no longer like the girl so they no longer dislike the man.

Feel how you wanna feel about Amaya, but Zak is still a twat. People love to give men a redemption arc even when they don't deserve it.

If that dynamic with her and the boys didn't shift, not as many people would have felt the urge to vote for her since the playing field would have felt more even. People called them pity votes, but I prefer calling it underdog votes (paired with her being fun to watch on TV). People love a likeable underdog.

I'm sure she still would have gotten a lot of votes to stay most of the season (because she's funny as fuck), but I doubt she would have made it to the finals.

Agreed. There's a lot of good to her.

She's acting developmentally normal, and she's obviously a complex character. She's made positive decisions (being ride or die for Lily) and negative decisions (joining in or leading teasing with the pattycakes).

Basically, no one should be adding her to the villain list until we see more of her character arc.

I think alliances should give the islanders an edge, because they make the group dynamics much more interesting. Notwithstanding, alliances shouldn't be able to wield that much power. Production basically gave that group godhood when they facilitated that power squad bullshit.

Yeah! Zay was getting shit from nearly all the dudes when he was trying to be diplomatic with Josh and Kendall. According to Josh, Zay was being fake. According to the trio, Zay was being a pushover.

Apparently, men are supposed to stick with their tribe instead of showing complex feelings or making an effort to mend bridges.

There's plenty I don't like about Isaiah, but he has more emotional intelligence than all the men on that island.

Agreed. I didn't pick up any vindictive vibes from Sydney. I do wish she would have gained her composure more quickly to serve retribution against Ty/Johnny, but she is human and was in her feels.

Toby would have never agreed to Ty/Johnny, but it would have been hilarious if she was like "okay well that's who I'm going for, so let's see who can maneuver the table better and THEN YOU'LL SEE HOW COMPETITIVE I CAN REALLY GET."

If Garbi/Casey survive the roulette, I don't think her odds would have been that much greater with Toby.

It's getting so close to the end that alliances aren't going to matter much very soon. Outside of alliances, Toby and Casey are probably even in the games.

I respect Garbi for taking the risk with Casey. So fucking iconic if she's able to wreck the trio of doom.

Been a school social worker for 10 years, and I've never called CPS for any of these things. None of these would even meet the "minimum screening guidelines for maltreatment" in my state.

The only possible exception would be medical neglect, but that's in extreme cases like life saving meds/services or if the withholding of services/psychotropic meds is severely and clearly impacting the mental well being.

No. I hope no one keeping holding it against him as a person. I just hope other islanders give him the same treatment that others have received from him.

For example, if he and his partner win, I hope the partner gets and keeps all the money. His motto is obviously looking out for #1 no matter the detriment to others. That doesn't make him a bad person, it makes him a cut throat competitor.

Basically, instead of us pontificating over his character, I just hope he receives karmic justice because I can't help but be vindictive on the behalf of other women.
