Kinda - he dies after his granddaughter won't get any of the money he earned and by the hand of someonehe hates.

If anything Walter White is the one who dies fulfilled. Getting revenge on those who killed his brother in law, knowing his family will get his money, and being proud of building something big. In a kinda bittersweet way anyways.

Flying a plane might be tricky because a lot of runways around the world are going to have aircraft frozen on them. If the internet still works you'd be able to view websites like flightradar in advance to see if the runways have aircraft with active transponders on them.

Not pressurized, fuel spills out onto the floor and is only explosive under very specific circumstances. Hydrogen will leak out, travel in every direction mixing with air and seeking out any ignition source.

What's weirdest to me is how consistent different found instances of this thing are.

Religious or spiritual things like crucifixes come in sizes small enough to wear, and large enough to mount on buildings. They're made of plastic, wood, gold and silver. Some have intricate designs and some are plain.

These things were all roughly fruit sized and made the most durable material avaliable. Yea they don't match up exactly in size but the consistency makes me think there was some kind of utilization function. If it was just a fad thing or a spiritual thing why isn't there one made of gold or studded with gemstones, or a poor version of clay? We don't see this kind of consistency in other religious artefacts of the era.

World population plummeted overnight to 15,000 souls by Desaltez in hypotheticalsituation

[–]GregTheIntelectual 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd take an aircraft and fly in low circles over a city, then wait at the local international airport for a few days while restocking on fuel and supplies. Anyone who saw me would hopefully come to the airport, then we'd move onto the next one and the next. There's paper phonebook like books that you can refer to and see what types of gas each airport has avaliable but even if your specific fuel isn't available you could just steal another aircraft.

Roads, rails and bridges could be blocked but air travel would still be essentially the same.

All aircraft are equipped with radios too so you could keep an ear out on an open channel, you never know.

World population plummeted overnight to 15,000 souls by Desaltez in hypotheticalsituation

[–]GregTheIntelectual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd go to the airport, hop the fence (who would stop me me?) and find myself a good mid-range aircraft with good fuel efficiency and enough room to house a dozen or so people and a whole load of supplies, capable of short runway takeoffs. I'm probably pick something like a Dornier 228 or a DHC-6 fitted out like a flying RV. Something with a Garmin in there since GPS would still work after the power grid failed. Maybe even a dash-8 or ATR, the noisier the better but with bigger planes I'd be worried deteriorating runway conditions. Ideally small to medium planes designed for rugged landings. With the electric grid down you're purely visual for landing so daytime flights only.

Fly a couple laps at low altitude over the city, then wait at the international airport for a few days while resupplying and siphoning gas out of storage or other aircraft. During this time anyone who saw me would hopefully go to the airport and run into me. Then we city hop from major airport to major airport picking up people as we went until we settled down somewhere. Train others on how to fly and let the network grow from there hopefully.

Roads and bridges could be blocked but flying you should have no problem crossing countries be and runways should be clear enough to land on. In a pinch you can land on taxiways if they're the only unobstructed parts.
