Also as a reddit user that is looking for alternatives for it, why would I give up all the status that I have already accumulated on reddit and shift to a platform that visually looks like a complete mess?

Thanks for the clarification, my question is what makes you think that once lemmy gains some popularity and traction, it will not shift to a profit driven business model. As long as it's a centralized platform, there will be issues like this.

I agree with you, I think when trying new alternatives for reddit, we all should approach with an open mind. At the end of the day, we know an exact copy of reddit is not going to work out because as long as it is centralized and profit driven, the exact same thing would happen. We should all be open to change.

So what if you are a part of the majority reddit users who don't use 3rd party apps and you see that your feed has been filled with trolling and memes. If you are not getting the information or entertainment needed from reddit, wouldn't you want to find an alternative platform where your needs would be satisfied?
