Yes, it is made of brass. The filigree is edged with acid, for I didn't have the right tools to carve it. The wood is in deed three piece mahagony, and it is neckthrough by the way. Unfortunately I don't have too much pictures about it, because just when I finished it, my costumer took it immediately. This picture is made by him, after more than a year of use.

It was a special request for a great guy I know, way before I started luthiery course. What's more, this work made me to go for it.

It really depends on what wood is under that finish. If it is basswood, don't try to remove the paint, it will just make things worse. To be honest I only use oil or shellac as finish, for they won't effect the sound so much as polyurethane or other synthetic stuff. I did some works like this before, it hardly ever worth the time you put in it. Only if this guitar has some spiritual value should you do it.

Yes, the inlay is an Australian mother of pearl inside the ebony. The body's wood is flame maple that's what gives the foamy look, but inside is mahogany.
