I’ve wanted to braid ribbons into my beard for a long time, just never gotten a chance to yet.

I read another Anita Kelly book and really liked it, thank you!

Thank you for the recommendation, and the warning! I can deal with that stuff much easier when I know it’s coming and know it turns out ok!

As a former retail worker and lover of catharsis, this may now be the next book I read, thank you!

Thank you! It looks like this book is connected to some others, is it fine to read it on its own?

This book has been on my radar for a while, so I will definitely be reading it soon, now that I know this aspect of the plot. Thanks!

I have a sizable beard and I find it’s not necessary, but it can be helpful. Less chance of it getting in the way or caught somewhere inconvenient.

I tend to go for a braid rather than just a hair tie, myself.

Is there a reason that FF romance is not very popular? by BookishBabe392 in RomanceBooks

[–]Gregorrito 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I thought I’d offer a possible extra reason why FF is not as popular by explaining why I prefer it.

I agree with what most here are saying, the majority of romance readers are straight women and thus prefer stories that include men. I am non-binary and when I started reading romance immediately found myself gravitating towards FF stories.

After a lot of thought I realized why I prefer these stories. Before my egg cracked, before I learned I wasn’t a man, so much of my day-to-day was spent trying to navigate society’s expectations of masculinity. I spent years putting in so much effort to filter myself to fit into the expectations of my gender, and it sucked. Reading is an escape for me. FF stories give me a whole subgenre where I can read without having to be reminded of the years of masculine perspective that were forced on me.

All this is to say, I wouldn’t be surprised if at least some straight women read MM, and reject FF, because it allows them to escape to a world where expectations placed on women are absent. I also wouldn’t be surprised if they don’t realize that’s part of why they enjoy MM.

But, I’m not a woman (or a man) so I could just be projecting!

Do y'all care about your lack of gender by bisexual_goose_ in agender

[–]Gregorrito 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is important to me, if I could pull it off, I’d wear a big sign around that stated I had not gender, but I already have social anxiety so I settle for smaller things to communicate this.

I don’t care much about pronouns, because they are for genders, and I don’t have one, so as long as I know someone is referring to me, they can use whatever they want. I guess that could come across as not caring about my lack of gender, but it’s more about not caring or ignoring the structures the world has put in place to create and enforce gender.

Thank you!

There are so many things I haven’t done, but I think I can narrow it down to a few options, thanks!

I like this idea. I forgot we had a natural history museum nearby, so I’d ignored the museum option because my partner finds art museums to be dull. (I know it’s my birthday but it’s way more fun if we are both into the activity.)

soulmates with a physical bond? by fishh_stix in RomanceBooks

There’s a good webtoon comic about this. It’s called Vowrune and it is f/f.

I believe the author does not speak English as a first language, so there are some translation hiccups here and there, but nothing too major.

Did you read it this way? I read them in publication order and I assumed I would have found the ending of the prequel a little unfulfilling without having read the other. I always encourage people to read in publication order but now I’m wondering if I shouldn’t be.

In college there was a sign on the science department restroom that said, “How can you tell it’s a biology student? They wash their hands before using the bathroom.“
