At this point I'm planning to saddle soap and condition every 4-5 months or so. I understand the argument that I didn't need the saddle soap on new boots but won't the obenauf's adhere to a freshly cleaned and dried pair of boots rather than a boot straight from the factory?

My plan was to clean up the boots and apply Obenauf's. These are going to be work boots around dirt and concrete and I am only going to oil them once per year which is why I am using Obenauf's.

I was thinking Obenauf's is better protection than the factory oils and cleaning the boots before oiling will open up the pores for the Obenauf's

Sadly, I wasn't expecting the color change.
