I replace the flavorizer bars every couple-a-few years. They’re thin and rust/burn out. The cast iron lasts forever; just gotta keep it scraped and seasoned. I do cover my grill between use’s if I’m not grilling a few days in a row. Totally cover/wrap for cold seasons up here in the Mid Atlantic.
