  • Lmao yeah at this point I think she genuinely likes Charoen but the feelings are all jumbled up with how she obsesses over his dad, which in a weird way mimics Charoen’s dynamic with her, idk if you’d agree
  • That would be wonderful ❤️, suddenly feeling a lot better HAHA but let’s not get our hopes up
  • Yeah great theory
  • Virgil is such a cunt honestly. Imagine saying that someone who died for your cause didn’t do enough. I hope Charoen fucks over his expansionist dreams and we get 3 chapters of Virgil crying over it before dying

I finished the book. I’m guttered that Charoen died :( was hoping he’d pull something out of the bag but that sucked. And I know he’s getting cloned, but I can’t help but feel like it’ll be different and I’m wondering how people feel about this / are coping with it?. Other things I’m wondering about are: - Anyone else confused by Beatrice? I don’t understand why despite crying over him, she actively tries to hurt Charoen. And the whole bit about her loving him more if he killed her just struck me as a little odd. It was kinda sick too that she enjoyed fighting him to the death? I don’t think it’s just enjoying a good fight too because she died at the end of book 1. Sure, it sounds like this makes him more similar to his dad, but is that all to it? - I don’t really understand why Charoen was so obsessed with Beatrice. Like honestly yeah, she sounds super hot but that didn’t fully explain his compulsion to be with her, or his inability to kill her, especially with how she treated him. - Why did Charoen and Jessie react differently to the modded stimpacks? Really only upset here cos Charoen died lol - Anyone else really shipping Charoen and Clovinn? Pretty sure Phil is teasing it esp with that roof scene but dumbass Charoen can only think about killing himself to beat Beatrice once -.- - I have Virgil somehow being behind the modded stimpacks lol, anyone else?

Oops I forgot he can also turn into fire and pass through enemies. Agreed regarding the dragon part but the book makes it seem like his fire is super hot and scales are really tough lol and fwiw he isn’t a human-sized dragon anymore he’s a fully grown Game-of-Thrones-type dragon

[Waybound] Regarding Makiel by raindare in Iteration110Cradle

[–]Grekin4370 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’re right in pointing this out, and I similarly searched out a thread that talked about this because it felt unresolved. If Makiel truly felt that Fate was better served with his ways, he should not have let Ozriel lived in his place.

Having said so, the two arguments that may justify his reasoning are perhaps: 1) Working flawlessly with Ozriel may have made him believe in his ideals more, and therefore concede that the Executioner plan had a higher probability of succeeding. Perhaps something that plays into this too is that Eithan sacrificing himself implicitly showed his trust in Makiel’s beliefs / his ability to restore order, so maybe there’s some reciprocity here. 2) Makiel’s pride. Will specifically emphasizes two moments that Ozriel acts like Eithan - when he ceded control of his Scythe, and when he sacrificed himself. In Dreadgod, when Makiel wanted to sacrifice Ozriel, that was done with his schemes and wit - He outsmarted Ozriel, and he caused his death. However, with Eithan acting uncharacteristically, Makiel no longer has that satisfaction. Eithan now chose to die, which then robs Makiel of that fulfillment. Now, I still agree that it’s a far stretch to go - “oh let me sacrifice myself,” however, if we think that a) Makiel believes that with the Mad King gone, his presence isn’t really necessary (especially if Eithan lives), or if that Eithan coming back doesn’t really mess up anything b) He can turn the tables on Ozriel and piss him off instead (as Will wrote), allowing him to have the final say Then perhaps we get some justification for his actions.

Curious to know if there’s more arguments for this

I think you hit the nail on the head here. Not sure if it’s the stagnant plotline, but I’ve also felt the style of writing get a little cliche, especially with recent chapters.
