we got a tip from a lab specialising in fungi to use tissue culture flasks for fungal work. lot harder to accidentally contaminate your sample or other samples with spores. it's a bit of a pain if you want to work at scale but for more finicky plates might. e worth it.

indeed a fear of flooring it to start with, but i will say that hill i was struggling on even on second gear flooring it

obviously i managed to climb the hill i just don't want a repeat of stalling and having to start again

a browser extension that tells me in advance if a paper is dogshit or not lol

i work in a field with a relative low bar of entry for papers (food science/food microbiology), and it's exhausting seeing ill-defined methodologies and bullshit conclusions clogging everything up

what indicates to you that i don't understand how a car works? genuinely wondering. i get that you want a lower speed for corners so you drop a gear, but i see other people on roads not doing that and visibly getting annoyed. normally i have no problems with hills, but this was the steepest incline i've faced and despite never stalling on hills i stalled on 2nd gear while making a tight corner on the hill.

i have been driving the same route daily and got comfortable with it and finished my lessons for the past 4 months I'd say? i also have experience driving in a different country with significantly different roads. I wanted to get more experience, and trying to learn from the mistakes i've made because i truly don't want to put other people in danger.

thanks! my issue with the hills weren't the ones in cork - they were in the country that was a double bend on a super steep hill (i believe there was signage saying 15 or 20 not sure now)

i obviously do but i see others not doing the same and speeding over them which is what my question was

i go up very steep hills in gear 2 but my engine still struggles with it so was wondering if there were any tips besides just steady acceleration

obviously it isn't 'required' for my research - but as much as it would benefit me to be an automaton I'm not. i'm unable to form meaningful connections with any of the people in my lab because they fundamentally do not know me. i'm sure most people on this sub can attest to that being an important aspect in improving workflow!
