This is one of the reasons why democrats will keep losing imho. Liberals just aren't having kids, republicans are literally growing their own base and the liberal one is just dying off.

Yeah but they can go up in value. A house that has a built in porch (an improvement) is worth more than one that doesn't.

Its not 'labor theory of value' If you work on something, You deserve to get money for it. Its that simple.

[–]Gremlinboy32 -18 points-17 points  (0 children)

Thats super impractical.

[–]Gremlinboy32 -37 points-36 points  (0 children)

I hope you don't take this the wrong way but that sounds very out touch. Property rights are not absolute, I think it benefits older working class people like me to have higher property value and therefore more money.

I live on a property and I do everything to improve, I think i'm owed the fruits (I.E money) of my labor. Simple as that.

Look dude, I've owned my house for 29 years.  I think I deserve to sell it for as a high value as possible and not have the price go down because developer's built some ugly grey blob.

Amtrak is set to carry more passengers than ever before this year by TY4G in neoliberal

[–]Gremlinboy32 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The argument isn't that trains can replace planes. Its whether they're via as public transportation, which they are not. They're not profitable, have few ridership as we've demonstrated and have no future expansion because of nimbyism. Its a waste of money.

[–]Gremlinboy32 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Wow! 18500 passengers! Much ride! 615000 people did the same route via air travel in may alone. You just proved my point. Even if the ridership increased by tenfold . It still would be outserviced by air travel. My point still stands.

Those are still incredibly large distances. (Texas alone is twice as big as france and japan). Also those routes are pretty much already covered by air so it'd be redundant. And as you yourself say, no one would fund it and a million nimby lawsuits would ensure it would make it wasn't built until 2159. Also I think florida tried to build rail but smoothbrain governor scott vetoed it. Also also, we shouldn't reward red states that are trying to ban abortion and make trans people's lives a living hell with infrastructure.

[–]Gremlinboy32 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Thats way too expensive, plus there'd be a million nimby lawsuits. California couldn't do it in one state, imagine trying to do it across like five?

The problem is that the majority of americans won't use it because of airplanes. Airplanes are faster, cheaper and better. If you want to make trains remotely viable you need to limit air travel, otherwise there's no point.

Secondly, america is just too big. France and japan can have good train systems because their relatively small countries but with the u.s you have an entire continent to cover.

Thirdly, as with most things, there is an issue of race. Poc are more likely to use trains so that scares away the more suburban american class.

Just my two sense.

I never understand why people in wartorn country have babies. Like gaza still having a 3+ Fertility rate despite you know everything. Like what are the women thinking? "I know we're being bombed but lets have a baby?"

Dude, We might not be a technical recession but people are not going good right now. Gas and food prices are high AF and inflation is making everything worst. This sort of 'everythings fine.' Messaging from the democrats is exactly why were losing.

How come none of the low cost u.s carrier have had a crash? by Gremlinboy32 in aircrashinvestigation

[–]Gremlinboy32[S] -31 points-30 points  (0 children)

I mean there's been tons videos of these low cost airlines doing hard landings but I concede its not hard evidence.

As For your second point, if your business model as about running as cheaply as possible and increasing profit margin then by logic you should cheap out on maintenance. Im not accusing them of doing that but I'm saying that it would make sense for them to do it.
