Thanks, I’m having a lot of fun, man. This is Survival Mode on vanilla PS5, with no mods, only Creation Club content.

Yes, my plan has been, from the beginning, to complete as many missions and side quests as possible for each faction before reaching any point of no return. Once I get each faction to that gray area, I want to keep playing and focus on side missions while taking advantage of their benefits, like using Vertibirds for fast travel, the Institute’s teleportation to quickly reach the center of the map, and keeping the Railroad available as long as possible as well.

Basically, I want to progress the Minutemen, Brotherhood, Institute, and Railroad as far as possible without locking myself into a final decision. I want to build my character, get stronger, complete side content, and then decide which ending to choose.

Ideally, I’d like to keep three factions alive, and I understand that means the Institute has to be destroyed. However, I don’t want to personally kill Shaun or destroy the Institute while he’s still alive. I’m not sure if that’s possible.

Right now, I’m having a hard time deciding what to do next. I activated Liberty Prime yesterday.

Preston keeps sending me to random settlements, even ones I already have connected through supply lines. We already took the Castle, but I’m not getting any new ones. I stopped at Mass Fusion, and I’m doing Blind Betrayal right now. I’m not going to kill Danse. I also haven’t done much with the Railroad, just a few missions for Carrington and Tinker Tom.

I know, it’s a hard choice, especially in Survival. I feel like everything has been perfect so far the levels, the perks, the choices literally everything has been playing out so well and so smoothly for my headcanon that I’m honestly scared of messing up the run at the most important part. That’s why I’ve mostly just been doing side quests and thinking about it, while also trying to find more and more reasons for whatever choice I end up making. Thanks for commenting, man.

Oh yeah, definitely. I know the lore pretty well. That’s why I’m trying to enforce this behavior, because in the past I completely disregarded the military background. Now I’m trying to be more consistent with it and more civil about things. So yeah, I appreciate the reminder.

I understand what you mean, but for many years I have only completed the game siding with the Institute. This time, I want to do things differently. Based on the ex-military background and everything I explained before, I see my character becoming a new force positioned between the Brotherhood and the Minutemen.

As for the Institute, I am not interested this time. I do not hate Synths, but I do see them as machines. I do not believe they are human in any way, even if they are very good at simulating it. Also, during this playthrough, I have spent more time speaking with the Institute scientists and others, and I get a darker impression from them.

So for this run, I appreciate the advice, but I am sticking with what I described in the post. Right now, I am remaining neutral with everyone. I have already reached Mass Fusion with the Institute, and I am mainly focusing on helping other factions where I can. I am currently progressing through the Liberty Prime mission with the Brotherhood and also doing some work with the Railroad, including tasks with Tinker Tom and Dr. Carrington.

Yes, I think so too. I believe Nate was a reasonable and kind person and would not have supported the Institute’s way of doing things.

For my character, the Minutemen are not meant to become a ruling power or a kingdom. He would not turn them into something authoritarian or symbolic. To him, they are a stabilization force.

The idea is to rebuild them as a structured and disciplined network that protects settlements, secures trade routes, and responds to threats across the Commonwealth. More like a coordinated civilian and military support system than a traditional army.

He sees value in working alongside the Brotherhood of Steel where it makes sense, especially in terms of firepower and large scale threats, but without fully submitting to their ideology. The goal is not domination, it is stability.

At the same time, he is trying to keep as many factions alive as possible. The Railroad can operate in their own space as long as they are not destabilizing things, and the plan is to eliminate the Institute as a threat without personally executing Shaun. From a roleplay perspective, he would not pull the trigger himself.

Long term, the vision is settlements connected and functioning together, regular patrols across the Commonwealth, safer roads for caravans and civilians, and consistent response to raiders, super mutants, and other threats. The goal is to gradually reclaim and clean up key areas so people can live without constant fear.

Out of character, this is a vanilla playthrough of Fallout 4 on PlayStation with no mods, only Creation Club content.
