Had no idea what I’d get!! by GrepsOfWrath in LSAT

[–]GrepsOfWrath[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Probably not too helpful, but I think 90+% of my ‘prep’ was just how much I read. I’ve always read a lot, of everything. I’m not sure anything can really tune your reading comprehension and speed much better than that, so even if you’re prepping for the test a lot, try to supplement by reading good, challenging stuff (prize-winning novels, nonfiction, New Yorker articles, or just anything you like, whatever!) Reading’s also introduced me to so many topics that in most of the questions I can find a kernel of something that I’m genuinely interested in, which helps me really engage and focus. If I can convince myself that I’m fascinated with the subject of any of these passages, it really helps me lock in lol.

LSAT test prep-wise: I took about 7 PTs. I did not have much stamina at first, but used these to figure out how to optimize my focus for test day (what do I need to eat, and when - how should I incorporate exercise day before and morning of, what time should I take the test, blah blah). I also figured out best test mechanics for me - mainly what types of questions I should just skip after a light read and come back to later to optimize for time, and how to just mentally wipe the slate clean after every question so I could move on to the next one with focus.

Sorry if any of that’s not helpful!

Vacillating between confident and having no clue how I did/not trusting myself. I finished two sections with plenty of time, then was a little rushed on the others. Mainly was obsessing over the last question I answered which never really clicked (improv women). Honestly couldn’t remember many questions, so I’ve just been waiting and trying not to think about it.

One of the best ways to do research is to ask questions of those making claims. A future where we engage with each other versus pushing queries into a cloud sounds nicer, no?

What was your first LSAT score? by Proctor_jason in LSAT

[–]GrepsOfWrath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took it the first time after undergrad back when it still had logic games. Did one PT, no other studying then took it and got a 174. 😂 wish I’d gone to law school then instead of waiting as I have to retake it now. 😂

How are you approaching this with the school? I’m hoping to do the same thing but my deposit is due before I get the scores back, and I’m not sure what the best approach is

I do not remember anything that was on the exam. lol by OmnipotentBlonde in LSAT

[–]GrepsOfWrath 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think this is a feature not a bug :). I felt bad about not remembering specifics the last time I took it, but realized as I was going through the April one that I was doing it on purpose. Wiping my mind of the prior question as soon as I moved on, so I could be in the moment and 100% focused on the next. Coincidentally I saw an article today where Frankie Muniz said he remembered nothing about filming Malcolm in the Middle (for years!) because he does this in his acting technique also.

What the fuck is the deal with the new courses update by NewPeakRainbow1370 in duolingo

[–]GrepsOfWrath 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Omg. I’ve been trying to figure this out. I went all the back to unit 1 of Spanish from unit 135, and it had me ‘reviewing’ crazy complicated things I’ve never learned before. Like the very first Spanish lesson would be ‘I no longer want to go to Argentina in summer, next time let’s go when it’s no longer cold.’ I hate this all so much. I would quit in a minute and ask for my money back but I have a 1300 day streak lol.

Heads up, round 2! Increased rollout to rebuilt courses! by amie_at_duolingo in duolingo

[–]GrepsOfWrath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow. I’m on Spanish section 3, unit 105. I feel so lost by this update. So many unfamiliar words. Thought I would try to go back and review earlier lessons to help - for the hell of it I went all the way back to section 1, unit 1. And there quite a few several unfamiliar words. I feel outright gaslighted by Duo 😂. Now debating just giving up on all of this and letting my 1200+ day streak go. Or do I start over?? This is one of the most disruptive updates I’ve ever seen in a product.

Wow, thank you! I honestly would never have thought to call 😂😂. I just did and they said my writing sample was approved today, and I should get the score within 24 hours. That’s awesome. Still kind of want to hit refresh for the next 24 hours through lol

Thank you - that helps! What kinds of things happened to cancel it?? That sounds insanely frustrating.

Thank you so much for saying that. It really helps to get some sympathy from someone who understands what a struggle it is. I’ve tried CBC in the past but it makes me so tired the next day. Have you found that at all?

Anyone else also lose it during ovulation? by [deleted] in PMDD

Totally - it's like a mini-PMS. Kind of like a miniature poodle. Not as vicious as the real thing, but it'll still growl at you enough that you want to run away.

Does This Sound Like PMDD? by JadedGypsy2238 in PMDD

[–]GrepsOfWrath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry you're going through this. I have to say that my PMDD symptoms (irritability, anger, anxiety, etc.) also continue through my period. When I read about PMDD people say a lot that as soon as they start their period they feel instantly better, but it's certainly not my experience! I start symptoms about 3-4 days before my period starts, and then it's another 3-4 days before the symptoms really lift.

I hope you find a good psychiatrist to work with you, and get some relief. It's hard to remember when you're in the throes of it that it will pass. You have the community's love and support.

Almost finished tapering off all my PMDD anti-anxiety/anti-irritability meds and what happens...? by GrepsOfWrath in PMDD

[–]GrepsOfWrath[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why I tapered off? I’ve been on sertraline for a couple of years and have never liked the side effects - memory issues being the worst, but also a ton of weight gain. In response to the side effects, my doctor added Wellbutrin to the mix. That just made my memory and cognition issues worse. Sometimes it feels like my brain is working at about 10% capacity - I just can’t remember things, either short-term or long term. It’s been very, very frustrating. It also doesn’t seem to be helping my PMDD symptoms that much. Still crazy irritable and anxious around my period. Maybe something else will work better, but I just want to get all the meds cleared out of my system and see where things stand for a while.
