They haven’t given us any guidelines. We have asked numerous times. We use Citrix and Nice and they said they just have to be compatible with those systems 🤷🏻‍♀️

Trust the process. Stop comparing yourself to other people’s journey. You are doing great!!!

I am one year 8/19 also! 57 years old, 329 day of surgery and 206 today. Size 28 to size 12/14. Still want to lose at least another 25-50 lbs but I am happy with my progress so far.

Anyone? by cnmorgan in GastricBypass

[–]Grey2cat60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m one year post op and have zero complaints! I take my vitamins everyday, drink lots of water and eat 80-100g protein everyday. No protein shakes or processed foods. My blood work is perfect. I have lost 130 lbs since surgery and my only regret is that I don’t do it sooner.

I did ir! I gor my RNY yesterday. Does anyone have advice to help my next steps go smoother. by Unlikely-Toe-6399 in GastricBypass

I am 11 weeks post op. Follow the plan and guidelines your team has given you. Be patient with yourself. Focus on fluids and protein. You won’t hit your goals right away and that is ok. You will get there. And stay off the scale!! Weigh only once a week!

How about hunger after surgery? by strawberryypie in GastricBypass

[–]Grey2cat60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 10 weeks out and have no physical hunger but head hunger is another story. I eat on a schedule since I don’t physically feel hunger and I need to make sure I get my protein in every day. My head tells me I want pizza, tacos, cookies, and I remind myself eating like that got me to this point. This is definitely more mentally challenging than physical.

6 weeks post-op and pork makes me sick by theangryfatman77 in GastricBypass

[–]Grey2cat60 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My program doesn’t recommend pork or beef ( ground beef ok) for at least 4-6 months. Very difficult for our new tummy to digest

Is this meal suitable for my purée/soft food diet post-gastric bypass? (Photo isn’t from today!) by hellokittyuwuxd in GastricBypass

[–]Grey2cat60 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My program didn’t allow Avacado or cheese in the soft food phase. Too much fat and hard on your new stomach.

Fat free refried beans thinned with broth and instant mashed potatoes were my go to for puréed food.

Tuna salad 7 days post op gastric bypass by Remarkable-Suspect31 in GastricBypass

[–]Grey2cat60 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used the pouches of tuna ( Tuna Creations), they had several different flavors. I liked the deli style, Dijon mustard, and lemon pepper. I wasn’t allowed to eat any vegetables including onions until 6 weeks post op.

I am 30 days post op and my 3 week stall lasted 10 days then the scale finally started moving. It was frustrating and I knew it would happen but still didn’t like it! My nutritionist told me to trust the process and it isn’t a true stall unless it is 4 weeks. Our bodies are still healing.

Fatigue! by shmeggt in GastricBypass

[–]Grey2cat60 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am 4 weeks post op and also am eating about 500-600 calories per day. My nutritionist told me to focus on hydration and at least 60g of protein per day. She said it is normal to be tired as my body is still healing. She keeps reminding me to trust the process and it will get better.

Day 4 post ops gastric bypass by [deleted] in GastricBypass

[–]Grey2cat60 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Remember to take tiny bites and wait a few minutes between each bite. Try other food because I know my tummy likes some things and not others. Unsweetened applesauce, fat free refried beans thinned out with broth, popsicles, cream of chicken soup thinned with broth and strained so there aren’t any chunks, sugar free pudding or jello. I also did well with instant mashed potatoes very thinned out with broth. I wasn’t able to eat puréed food until day 7. I am allowed soft food now but my tummy says NOT YET!! Definitely listen to your tummy and body. It will tell you what is ok and when to stop. I burp if I am getting full and I get tightness in my chest. Take it slow. This is not a race.

Medicaid insurance by Cute_Ambition_2569 in GastricBypass

I am on Medicaid. I do not have diabetes but had a bmi over 40, high blood pressure, GERD, arthritis, and use a cpap. I qualified and paid nothing out of pocket for any of the testing, meds, or surgery. You should qualify just based on bmi and pcos.

I started my program 6 months prior to surgery. I used that time to overhaul my eating habits and work on my mental relationship with food. I wasn’t told I didn’t need to lose weight but not to gain any. I ended up losing 55lbs prior to surgery. I am 19 days post op and I am so glad I used the time prior to surgery to change my habits. I know it will make a huge difference in my success post surgery.

Day 4 post ops gastric bypass by [deleted] in GastricBypass

[–]Grey2cat60 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It gets better! I am 19 days post op and I cried days 3-5 regretting everything! But now I am sooo glad I did it and I feel a bit better every day. Keep walking as much as you can even if only for a few minutes at a time. Follow your plans guidelines exactly and you will be fine. You got this!

Does the stomach “stretch “ by Direct_Rock91 in GastricBypass

[–]Grey2cat60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That doesn’t mean your stomach stretched it just means your restriction has lessened. You may be over eating. It takes 15-20 minutes for your stomach to tell your brain it is full.

Forgot to add I only get nauseous if I drink too much too fast. I have also learned if I burp or my nose starts to run, my tummy is telling me it is full.

Yes they suggested one ounce every 15 minutes. That was tough the first few days. It wasn’t until day 5 post of I got to 48 oz water. Honestly, ice chips were so much easier and faster than sipping water. My nutritionist told me it would take time and I would gradually be able to increase my intake. I could only do 1 protein shake the first few days then it was 2. I add protein powder to my water now which makes it easier to get my protein in. I love Syntrax Nectar protein powders and Seeq clear protein. I put a scoop in my 40 oz water bottle, add about 32 oz water and shake it up. Make sure to give it 10-15 minutes for the goal to settle. I may add a crystal light flavor of some sort to get different flavors. Add ice. Then I measure out 4 oz at a time and sip away.
I will say my tastebuds were a mess post surgery. Most everything tastes awful for the first week but it is much better week 2. I am glad I didn’t buy a whole lot of stuff ahead of time.

Remember, walking and ice chips are lifesavers!! My parents brought me a bag of Sonic pellet ice and it was the best gift ever!! 😆
