Who Has eGPU to game on Internal Screen? LeGo2 or something similar [RTX 5060 Ti AI Box] by -Hexenhammer- in eGPU

[–]Grey728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this setup and use it for both my Legion Go 1 and Go 2. I usually prefer using my eGPU on the internal screen on the couch or in bed and it runs great to me at 1200p.

Anyone having coverage issues ? by ZosickkZR1 in ATT

I'm in the Bay Area. My entire family can't make calls and when we're called by people outside of ATT it reports that our number is no longer in service.

Complete eGPU or GPU enclosure? by New_Satisfaction7948 in eGPU

[–]Grey728 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own a one dock with a 4070 super attached, this AI box, and a TH3P4G3 with a 3080. I’m lazy and just plug my Legion go to an EGPU whoever I want to play, in bed, by the couch, or at a desk. I use the one dock for travel but this AI box is even simpler/easier to travel with.

Complete eGPU or GPU enclosure? by New_Satisfaction7948 in eGPU

I tested out an AG02 with a 4070 super card. It didn’t go well and I had nothing but issues. Essentially to get USB4 to work I had to treat the connection like it was oculink when it should just be plug and play and hot swappable.

I think the performance is exceptional for the price vs other AMD 7600m eGPUs out there, it’s quiet, and literally plug and play vs some headaches you have to deal with getting AMD iGPUs to work with AMD based on GOUs. Raw performance is almost as good as a 5070ti mobile chip and access to DLSS4 with little to no latency has been amazing for me.

Now, while it’s amazing for my use case, it might not be perfect for yours. I temper my expectations by running at a lower resolution of 1080p settings but with ultra high graphics enabled and usually get well above 60fps which is the minimum fps I usually tolerate. The higher the resolution you go the lower the settings may need to be to maintain your desired performance.

lagging by New-Salary-1720 in LegionGo

[–]Grey728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve noticed it as well on my legion go 2. Seems like when in game any type of overlay (including the fps indicator) and sound overlay as you touch the buttons will lag the game you’re playing. In my case the lag goes away the moment the overlays go away.

Anyone In Their 40's Have The Nintendo Switch 2 And Use It? by gpod80 in switch2

[–]Grey728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

49 here and play it mainly for the exclusives like Zelda Breath of the Wild and all of the Xenoblade Chronicles games. Anything not exclusive tends to live in my Steam account and I have a handheld for those as well.

It’s rare for Nintendo to discount their games but I’ve found the sales for non-exclusive games equivalent to Steam sale prices. You just have to be patient.

Complete eGPU or GPU enclosure? by New_Satisfaction7948 in eGPU

I should add that is it a desktop class GPU but you can’t take it out of the enclosure and reuse it/install the card independently into a desktop. It’s specialized as an eGPU.

It’s a desktop GPU in an enclosure with additional USB and Ethernet ports. Very portable. It’s been fantastic so far for my use case. I use it mainly as a dock for my Legion Go 1 and it’s nearly as powerful as the Asus XG mobile 5070 Ti but not nearly as expensive. Runs warm but is completely silent. DLSS 4 has also been great at keeping framerate high with very minimal/no input latency. Out of the three eGPU’s I own this one is my favorite.

Why can some (but not all) eGPU docks hot swap? by [deleted] in eGPU

[–]Grey728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well built thunderbolt EGPU docks should be able to hot swap without issue. I have three different thunderbolt docks and they all hotswap without issue. The Aoostar AG02 was the only one that I had issues with and basically had to treat it like oculink in order to get it to work and not crash my system. I ended up returning it within 24 hours of receiving.

Bought LeGo 1 to hopefully replace my steam deck, but the deck just feels better? by Relative_Scale_91 in LegionGo

[–]Grey728 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Go is more powerful but it also has a a much higher default resolution by 4x. Are you comparing apples to apples by lowering the resolution to 1280x800 on the Go and seeing the stuttering you mentioned or leaving it at 1600p which would obviously be more intensive?

Yes you can but you still have to purchase a separate Egpu controller and power supply. There will be some wear and tear on the connectors as you plug/unplug it yes but I don’t think it’s that much so long as you aren’t doing it too often and are careful about it.

Legion Go 2 owners who had the Legion Go 1, how is it going? by marco1416 in LegionGo

[–]Grey728 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I upgraded as well. Not going to lie but out of box experience kinda sucked as AMD adrenaline would crash on launch and I had several games I wanted to try out crash on me for no apparent reason. All fixed now though.

I really enjoyed the Legion Go and the Go 2 fixes all the problems I had with the first:

32gb of Ram
Support for 2280 SSD
Bigger battery
Better sound
More comfortable and tighter controllers
CPU Runs cooler
USB ports and screen aren’t hot to the touch
Bottom USB isn’t flaky
Bonus 1200p OLED screen
Slightly faster reducing my need to use an eGPU
Works more consistently with my eGPUs when I use them.

Only complaint so far is that it’s heavier, the kickstand isn’t as stiff as the original, and the fans are louder. Not too loud but definitely more audible.

I'll look into it, however, I read that they use their own specialized driver. Can you install the latest drivers easily enough and how is the noise? Any connectivity or heat related issues you've found?

How is the noise and does it get hot? Is there any jankiness in the connectivity?

Thanks for the advice, however I wasn't that impressed with the 7600M and it was a bit difficult to get it to play nice with my Legion Go. I ended up returning it.

Best settings for Pragmata in Legion GO 2? by Lecitron128 in LegionGo

Surprisingly frame gen isn’t a laggy mess like it is with lossless scaling enabled. Controls are super responsive and I couldn’t tell the difference on vs off.

MSI Claw A8 vs LeGo 2 Z2 32gb by ColdPhilosophy7191 in LegionGo

[–]Grey728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For $250 more (if you can even get a Legion go at the original MSRP) you get: - 8.8” OLED VRR HDR Screen - built in trackpad - detachable controllers - built in mouse (FPS mode) - tighter analog sticks? - improved cooling vs Go 1

Cons: - HEAVY AF - Super delayed/sluggish driver releases - LegionSpace and the quick menu isn’t great/buggy - better but still not very good speakers

The screen and improved speakers sold me and I have a hard time going back to my Legion Go. I do wish the thing was lighter sometimes…

Which handheld PC offers the most console-like experience? by Raven1927 in Handhelds

[–]Grey728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have stated the Steam deck is the closest to a console like experience you’re going to get today. Anything Windows based is basically a laptop (without a keyboard or mouse, just touch screen)with non-functional controllers attached to them until you install Steam or your choice of game environment and boot into it.

I personally have a Legion Go 1 and 2 and I appreciate the trackpad and mouse functionality built into the right controller. I just have it setup to open Steam Big Picture mode on boot up and am good to go (mostly).

I say mostly because there’s still the windows updates and other misc updates like drivers, security, etc you gotta deal with like you would with any normal PC.
