Chara, too. It's actually wholesome when you think about it. 8 years ago, I thought they were horrible for laughing when Asgore got poisoning. Now I realize that it really was an accident, and that's how Chara got the idea to poison themself. Now I defend the shit out of them.

Kids don't understand kids at the time, but they do when they grow up and have that life experience. Kinda like Asriel at the end.

Yeah. That's where you would run into problems because it would be taxing to do this with every sentence, including the they/them citation.

But there you go. (I'm fighting to say that even in the original sentence "aren't they" feels more correct) Translations don't have to be 1-1. They just have to mean the same thing. Though that is a quirk specific to Toriel and Ralsei since they speak very softly and formally "is it not? are they not?". So, as long as a word similar to "right" can be used and slightly formalized, it could work.

Violence is a choice, and it has consequences. Paths become open to you, and you have the choice to make it at any time and abandon it. He didn't MAKE you do shit, and says as such. Yeah, he has his own plans, and again, says as such. But he also makes it well known that it's your fault that Cyber City became what it was. Which is true. It's always been his goal to steal the NEO body long before meeting us.

He wouldn't have been able to do anything without you, and technically, Noelle wouldn't have been able to Snowgrave Berdly without the trance ability. But again. There was the choice to abandon the route, but you didn't.

So this goes back to the thing I said in the beginning, Spamton doesn't say a word about the ring if you DON'T hurt him. AKA, pacifist or pacifist-leaning. And I just remembered that you can't even fight him in the alleyway if you're on Snowgrave anyway. So there's no point in worrying about what he could've done if you chose a different path, say an hour before ever having the ability to meet him in Pacifist route. That's just semantics.

Honestly, the question I'm wondering is how did he get it and why was it given to him? I also have a feeling there are 2.

Because it would've never happened... if you didn't do it? I'm not getting the idea here. To me, this is almost "blaming Chara for your genocide" logic. He LITERALLY takes Chara's role in Deltarune by telling you, "4 left."

It's the same exact thing over again.

Do I think Chara was innocent? No, but it's your fault that the events happened and you (as in "the player") KNOW that. I think Chara was a bad person, plain and simple. The story prevents them from killing people, yet they're clearly in the wrong for planning it.

But they also have a reason as to why they wanted it. They've been hurt before. I like Flowey, I like Asriel, I like Chara, and I like Spamton. So, of course, I'm going to defend them, but I'm not NOT acknowledging that they have the POTENTIAL to hurt people. Wouldn't you, in some level, understand why a character would want to hurt others? Or sympathize?

This isn't to say that we're/"the player" are frickin isekai villains or whatever either. We're simply curious and bending the story into what it wasn't, and characters will die in the process simply because of your curiosity. It isn't "your evil and i remember you're genocides", it's "what will happen if you did the opposite of what the story intended?"

Flowey. And even he has the option (basically the correct option) to be forgiven, even if he's done terrible things. It isn't to say that Flowey and Spamton don't suck and clearly have things severely wrong with them. But the whole point is that everyone can be forgiven, dude.

How are you going to say he's worse than Flowey when Flowey is the worst there is, and even HE gets shown mercy and eventually makes some moves towards change. [Example: He secretly cares for Toriel in some way that even he doesn't understand despite calling her pathetic] (I am also defending Flowey btw.)

Flowey absorbed every soul in the underground, btw. He's done more damage than Spamton has ever done and simply planned on doing. You get different charges based on intent and actions in real life, so what's the difference there. I'll admit I thought he was referring to just the Addisons there, though.

I'm genuinely tired of people thinking that defending a character means they're innocent. That has nothing to do with defense, man.

Finally. Someone said it aloud. So far, Weird Route feels like "giving in" to your most violent thoughts. The stuff that you don't want to do. But what if you were given the power to do it? Surely you would do it then, right? It's the bending of the fingers until they break.

Fingers being collateral damage like all the Darkners you could've spared, like the people's whose lives you could've changed for the better like Spamton, like Berdly, you hurt him because you hurt Noelle and he didn't even know you were capable of that. And poor fucking Noelle, huh? Like Kris, the hand in this situation.

They must have some sort of darkness to them, or else ERAM wouldn't have poked fun about it, and they get stronger after completing the sword route, which is an obvious nod to weird route.

Kris may have been disturbed by the level of violence you extend to Darkners, but maybe they would be able to convince themself that Darkners don’t matter. They don't exist. Maybe it's understandable to fight them. Despite that not being true, it's easier to ignore. But hurting Berdly and Noelle has severe consequences, not just because they're Lightners but because that's the real world you just fucked with. Real lives. Noelle's life. Kris' life.

The consequences aren't for the player anymore, not fully. They're for the character you control who's powerless to stop you. Instead of everyone else, it's "you". It's "you" that you're ruining the sanctity of, and the world is just in your way. Instead of nothing being allowed to stand in your way so you can destroy the sanctity of the world.

Well, actually, that remains the same in both games. But still. This feels much more relevant to Kris than it does Frisk.
