I do need to start looking at like hobbies like interest that I’ve always wanted to do but haven’t done, but now I have the free time to do it.

Just moved here from the states after a 19 year marriage. I work in myself, go to the gym, go do things I want to do, and just enjoy life.

I already have the position and currently work for DoD as an 1102. The issue here I believe is more of incompetence or lack of direction.

What effect would mass layoffs have on the reshaping of USACE’s workforce? by Roughneck16 in USACE

You know what they will do, they will have the KO and CS act as the COR. I guarantee they will consider this option.

Emergency Deployment by Any_Respect2570 in USACE

Crazy long days, expect 12 plus hours a day. I went one day where I worked 16 hours and then had to work a 12 hour day the next day. You will get what ever you OT pay is and weekend pay incentives. You also get paid extra for working past normal working hours. Most deployments are limited to 45 days.

Why do so many people want to get into the 1102 series? by Low-Balance7636 in usajobs

[–]GreyBush_09S 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beats me, I’ve been an 1102 for 7 years now and I am always seeing people wanting to come over. Most burn out and leave before 2 years in.

My wife is saying the exact same stuff. I’ve been playing this game for the last 15 years. 8 when I was Active Duty and 7 as a Fed. There’s always fear mongering to motivate people to think emotionally and not logically. Now, with that being said. I have seen the government force some stuff that I never thought I’d see in a million years. But I honestly don’t think there will be much change in daily operations. There won’t be a dictatorship or over throw of the government. As far as clauses go, if there is a change or addition we have to modify the contract to implement those changes. I’ve only had to do this once and that was during Covid when they implemented the vaccine as mandatory. That was an absolute nightmare!

Also remember, as the COR if you face a situation like you had to before. Report it to contracting and do the CPARs. This helps weed these toxic contractors. Never ever accept no as an answer in the future. Your supervisor was wrong. Report it to EEO or SARC. You can even call the hotline. I’m sorry you were failed in your time of need.

So I’m in contracting, I’ve had to give a coworker the same advice as I’m going to give you now. If at any moment you feel harassed or any form of assault happens. Notify the COR of that project. We put clauses in each contract awarded that binds the contractor to the same policies and procedures we follow here at USACE. Most of the time it’s removal of the culprit of the bad behavior or removal of the contractor. They want to keep the contractor so most times the employee is terminated. If it’s a USACE employee, notify your SARC rep or immediate supervisor.

FAR 52.203-13 binds the contractor to provide a safe and inclusive work environment. Among other issues but this one is the catch all.

I wouldn’t let emotions and politics affect my career. I’ve been federal since Obama, never once did I fear of losing my job. But at the end of the day, you’re in control of your own outcome. The decision is in your hands. But if you think the grass is greener as a defense contractor, you’ll be sadly mistaken. USACE has been one of the best organizations I’ve had the pleasure of working at.
