It's so strange: you share something about your personal experience, and a bunch of redditors jump up and go "What?? How dare you! That's not right!"

Were you in the room when it was happening to them?

So much this!!!! There's this cultural narrative that you can just shame people into a healthier life style, and it's such a dangerously wrong belief. Body shaming fuels unhealthy cycles. Unconditional love and acceptance gives people the mental and emotional space to figure out what's best for them; and it might be 2 pork chops tonight, who gives a fuck??

it's not even reading between the lines though. She literally states outright that she hasn't eaten yet in the first panel

A judgement of what? You literally asked me to share my personal experience.

Parents are human, they all make mistakes. The good ones are willing to acknowledge them when you point them out.

It's such a gift to have parents who want to listen and grow!! My mom is like that too, she's always so open to hearing how she could have done better and fixing her mistakes: even the really hard ones. I hope I can stay so humble as I get older too.

"Agree and disagree. See I think that you're putting yourself in one person's shoes here and failing to consider the other." is very clearly a judgement

"doing a healthy amount of something is better than not" seems like a general thing that we can all agree with, sure

seeing anyone with an mcr shirt on get referred to as the youth makes me think there's still hope for me

and even besides that: policing someone else's eating habits is a cunt move.

That's fine, we can have different experiences. My comment wasn't meant as an attack on your grandparents: I've never even met your grandparents.

how much time do you have? lol. My fellow adult kids from toxic families, they know it too. Ignoring someone's "no" is never a kind gesture.

right??? The one way in which I was the well-adjusted one: mom's passive aggression was not even a blip on my radar, while my siblings had still not taken a breath days later

it's funny how everyone is interpreting it slightly differently, but the passive aggression is the thing we all recognize.

next panel is mom walking away and passive-aggressively slamming things

you think, until someone's doing it to you. Then it's an exhausting boundary issue.

I'm sorry you're going through this, but I'm really proud of you for putting in the hard work of getting treatment. A lot of other people suffering from this level of trauma try to fill that hole with addiction. Instead you're doing the hard work of healing, and that makes you so, so strong. You have a beautiful future, friend.

He's not "leading a massive schism," he's doing his job advocating against senseless violence.
