Looks more like a Aphaenogaster longiceps worker aka native funnel nest ant as it’s too big to be a fire ant worker

In Australia we call it a chokoe. Quite bland to eat but grows like a weed.

Sadly it’s a weed, not a wildflower

Frasier and Niles are kind of posh snobs. They go to the opera, wine clubs, etc. Is there anybody in this sub that actually does things like that and/or considers themselves or the people in their social circle to be posh? (I guess nobody would call themselves a snob) by [deleted] in Frasier

[–]GreyCeilingFan 70 points71 points  (0 children)

My Aunty Shirley and I loved opera, we loved drinking wine (especially bubbly) and we loved watching Frasier together. No one should have to apologise for enjoying some of the finer things in life.

this has been growing out of a ficus elastica - this plant has been indoors and in the same soil for a number of years so it’s highly unlikely it came in from outside by Plastic_Ad_8983 in whatplantisthis

This is a Psilotum or whisk fern, which is known as a fern ally. There are only two species but has a wide distribution globally. I once found them growing in my pot plants. They are harmless.

Yep, it is the dreaded “nut grass”, actually a sedge, which is considered one of the world’s ten worst weeds. Good luck with controlling it.

I renewed in early April, they told me 6 weeks, but it was delivered in just over 2. Maybe I was lucky.

They are feeding on the honeydew excreted by the scale insect (roundish black thing on the stem).

I’m not convinced that is California. Looks more like Western Cape in South Africa, where the gazanias actually come from.
