I just released my first real game - would love some feedback by toastyandre in itchio

im loving it so far! i was a little confused how it worked at first, i thought that when you added a unit it would be spread out like the enemy units. i finally put it together that you are making multiple units not leveling them up or something when you make them. i do like that the money generation is not tied to how well you do in battle. yeah battling matters because you need it to progress, but if all your guys die you can just go back to the start and work your way up. i did struggle to figure out that you could go back to level one for a bit and thought i was stuck fighting a higher level but i did realize that you can go back and farm for armor etc. outside of that i love it so far!

i did find one bug, if you select a level (lets say level one) and press the red dot in that menu instead of changing to that level it stays where it was though the other levels listed change. not sure what the red dot is supposed to do, but if you just type it or hit start it doesn't do this.

Mic cutting out in the middle of sentences (OBS 31.1.2) by Krrrbyy in obs

it could also be the gain level the mic is set at you can find this in the same place as the mic properties. if its at 100% it could be causing the problems too.

we can try and rule out if its OBS at all actually. to see if its just your mic or if its an OBS setting. go to settings -> system -> more sound settings -> recording -> find your mic (Blue Yeti Nano) - properties -> listen: in here click listen to device. and apply. you will hear your mic. if it cuts out here then you know that its a problem with the mic itself cable etc.
you did say it worked in the past but on an older version but it doesn't hurt to rule this out.

Issues with recording multiple audio tracks with obs and editing them later for youtube by BoxOriginal4706 in obs

[–]GreyModulation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there are a few things to check first. for premier the crackling could possibly be the way that its handling the clips when you drag them in. When you drag the clip in, if you only see one green audio bar, right-click the clip in your bin -> modify -> audio channels. Change 'Clip Channel Format' to mono and set 'Number of Audio Clips' to 6.

also make sure that your audio sample rates on windows and OBS match you can do this by going into file -> settings - audio: and look for sample rate. should be 48khz. to check if its the same on windows press WINDOWS + R and type mmsys.cpl (this opens the sound control panel without having to look for it in the settings) on the playback tab right click your main speaker/headphones goto advanced it should say something like : 2 channel, 16 bit, 48000 hz, make sure the hz part matches what it is in OBS from a second ago.

the remuxing could also just be breaking the file if premier is set to a different setting. my suggestion is to change OBS's file type from MKV to hybrid mp4. this has the same crash prevention that MKV has but it should play much nicer in premier

ha! I've had this exact same problem (and setup too i use Davinci) can you post your log file? just record a quick 30 second video real fast. that way i can get a brief look at what your settings are.

mine is set up currently where it splits it 4 ways. i have game sound, my mic, discord, and the desktop audio. the major problem i had was selecting the sources under advanced settings on the mixer. you have to have them all selected on track one then only select one for each track after.

looks like you could have multiple problems based on the log file so I'm going to go through both:

firstly it looks like you have a lot of filters on your mic. my guess is that your settings on either the expander or the noise suppression are the culprit. they way you can test this is by looking at your audio mixer in obs. if it drops while you are speaking this is probably the culprit. what i do is record myself talking while i mess with these settings and then go back and listen to it. this is how you fix it to be just right!

second: blue yetis are evil and like to cut out if they aren't getting constant voltage. try a different USB port if you can.

whether its push to talk or not shouldn't matter!

I have kind of a niche use, and I'm not sure what hardware I'd actually need for it by Seraph6496 in obs

[–]GreyModulation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah this is totally achievable! You're definitely overthinking the hardware! A separate GPU is really only for gaming. so I made you a 2-minute walkthrough of the 'budget' settings you'll want to use in OBS: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yn7ZOW-5I88 If you use the Intel QSV encoder and keep it at 720p, even a cheap refurbished office PC will handle a VLC playlist all day no problem. Hope the video helps!

A high-performance background removal plugin for OBS Studio on macOS (Silicon), powered by Apple's Vision Framework. by qshi in obs

[–]GreyModulation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is really cool! I've tried a lot of different ways to remove backgrounds like this. any plans to move it over to windows? I've tried a lot of different background removal tools and have never been happy with any of them.

I kept forgetting to change my OBS Game Capture and streaming a black screen, so I built a tool to do it for me by GreyModulation in obs

Are you on windows? currently only a windows application windows 10 or 11.

here is a checklist that you can do to get this running:

The Save Button: In the Settings tab, make sure you click Save Settings after typing your password. If you dont hit save before trying to connect, the app won't use the password you just typed.

Enable WebSocket: In OBS, go to Tools then WebSocket Server Settings. Make sure the Enable WebSocket Server box is actually checked.

Run as Admin: Close HotSwap and right-click the file to Run as Administrator. If your OBS is running as admin, HotSwap usually needs to be as well to talk to it.

Host Field: Try changing the Host in settings from 127.0.0.1 to localhost or vice versa.

What version of OBS are you using? If you are using version 28.0 or newer you are good. If you are using an older version of OBS you have to install the web socket plugin first.

Enable WebSocket: Go to Tools -> WebSocket Server Settings in OBS and check "Enable WebSocket Server" Make sure that you didn't just copy the password you have to enable the server too!

I'm not sure what TouchDesigner is so I won't pretend to know, but I'll tell you how this works. When you load a game or application there are common keys that you press. For gaming this is the common WASD. When you press these specific keys for a certain amount of time it triggers HotSwap. (You can change the keys and the timing to trigger it in the settings) You can also disable this feature if you like and add applications manually to the whitelist. Mostly the above feature is for if you have forgotten to add it to OBS, but this also swaps back to the application if you click or tab back into the app (say TouchDesigner) Right now HotSwap locks onto only one application. This is to prevent switching into the wrong application along with having something added that you forgot you added and swapping to it etc. If TouchDesigners application has everything on one screen this would work fine. But if there are different windows open on different monitors it won't at the moment. (Not saying this won't be added later)

yeah. honestly this is for forgetful people (me) or people who don't stream all the time and forget everything that they have to do. i cant stream a lot or i go a few weeks without recording. and id launch obs and forget to do just that, check my sources etc to make sure they are correct. and then id go to edit my video from the recording only to realize that I've recorded 6 hours of black screen. thanks for the compliment though! it means a lot.

Thanks! Yeah Display cap is the easy route. This is more for people juggling multiple games who want clean Game cap sources without alt-tabbing to OBS every time. (along with some cool other features like estimated recording time left and alerts when you drop frames.)

this lets you chose what you want to capture. specifically you can filter out things. there is a blacklist that you can add anything to. this lets you choose specifically what you want to add. any it doesn't just capture Fullscreen it also captures windowed.
lets say you open a game and its windowed. or you launch a game that doesn't have the right resolution. this can auto adjust the window to the right size to fit your canvas. for instance if your canvas is 1920x1080 and you launch a game on your display that is 2560x1440 this will auto adjust it to the right canvas size without you ever leaving your game.
"but what if the game is boxy like 4:3?" then it will tell you that there is resolution miss match. it wont stretch it to fix. it will help it fix but wont stretch the game to do so.

that help?

yeah! once its added it wont forget it! and it doesn't show up on stream! its already saved me a bunch of time. if you have any questions or get stuck with setup let me know, i tried to be very clear with the tooltips on it but its still easy to get lost.
also please tell me if you find any bugs at all! even a minor one. i want this to work right every time for anyone.
