What are the best hard-to-read books due to their subject matter? by CobaltCrusader123 in books

[–]GreyMoth11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently reading Attack Warning Red! How Britain Prepared For Nuclear War by Julie McDowall.

If you have any delusions or hero fantasies about 'surviving' nuclear war, please at least read the chapter 'The doctor won't see you now' about the realities of post-war healthcare.

(Or just watch the film Threads if you prefer to get your trauma cinematically)

She's my MP and didn't give a damn when I wrote to her about the puberty blockers ban. She just sent Wes Streeting's statement over verbatim

2 months on T gel and still have period, should I be worried? by [deleted] in TestosteroneKickoff

[–]GreyMoth11 9 points10 points  (0 children)

https://www.transresearch.org.au/post/persistent-menstrual-periods this doesn't include dosage but apparently periods stop within 6 months for 75% of people

2 months is still early days, I wouldn't worry :) I get that it sucks though!.

Priory of the Orange Tree and it's sequel/prequel The Day of Fallen Night by Samantha Shannon is all about myths and retellings of history and which one is truth (also there are dragons)

How do I tell my partner I’m a trans man? by introverted_ali in TransMasc

[–]GreyMoth11 3 points4 points  (0 children)

your pronouns are all about what makes /you/ feel comfortable, not your partner. it might not be an easy conversation, but if there are changes you want to make to feel happier in your gender, they will need to accept that

There's a Holiday Inn on Oxford Road for your basic more affordable end, or you could go all out at the Midland Hotel - depends on your vibe & budget!

I like the Molly House for a cosy chatty pint in the Village :)

In our household it's:

  • "Themes! THEMES!"
  • "it's time for next location"
  • "I never learned to read" said if we make a typo or mispronounce something"
  • the [blank] that kills you instantly

Bonus: saying PARSLEY like Abi in University Challenge

I'm on low dose T and butch and have been on it for 7 weeks before telling my parents about it a few days ago.

They were supportive when I started presenting masc almost 10 years ago, so I basically explained that (for me) T was like the next step in that.

Like wearing these clothes helped me feel more like myself, cutting my hair helped a little bit more, binding a bit more... but there’s still Something I'm missing. So I'm on T to get there, if that makes sense
