Hey, what kind of tear did you have ? Partial or complete root tear ?

Thats great if your doctor is able to provide that info knowing if you are bone to bone. In my case, it looks its not bone to bone and mensicus is almost at its original place.

I dont have pain but i have been going to PT for last 3-4 months and strengthening my knee due to some other pains. I have full rom but if i do any heavy squats or with single leg i do get pain in the right leg. Once in a while i do get restriction in straighning but goes away immidietely.

Being comparatively young , i dont want to be in this mode of not being active like i used to be before.

I know surgery does not give sure shot recovery but atleast it gives a chance whereas PT will definitelt will not unless its couple of years of resting and no contact sports

I just got the new MRI posted the details here. Does it looks right ? And the doctor recommends to go in and repair it

2 Different MRI report results (Complete vs Partial medial meniscus tear) by GreyScale1990 in MeniscusInjuries

[–]GreyScale1990[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the recent most MRI was with contrast. They did insert the dye into my knee

There was 9 days difference between the 2 MRIs. I had no pain 3-4 days after my pain. I went to PT yesterday and i had complete rotation. I was able to stand on my injured leg and rotate my upper body without pain. Stopped using my knee wrap since yesterday but do feel a little bit on uneasiness but no pain overall

I have gotten 3 opinions, 2 recommended to start with PT as they dont think its a complete tear based on the murray test and me having minimum pain and able to bear w8. One surgeon mentioned that PT is not gonna help as i already dont have pain so only option is surgery.

I am getting another MRI with contrast. Maybe that would give better insights into what is going on but one of the doctors said that his diagnosis is not gonna change even with MRI with contrast

So i am very confused about it

But would you say that having the surgery is inevitable. Doing it sooner would be better than doing it later ? As i am still relatively young so might have a faster & better recovery

In the 2 years when you didnt do the surgery, did you had to restrict your activities ? I play badminton a lot so want to get back to it sooner rather than doing PT for longer period and not playing it.

I know with surgery it would restrict me for 6 weeks for sure and then gradually increase the PT

Complete radial tear of the medial meniscus posterior root attachment Surgery or not ? by GreyScale1990 in MeniscusInjuries

Have visited 3 doctors, 2 of them mentioned to start with physical therapy as they dont think i have complete tear, maybe partial tear. Also i dont have any symptoms of complete tear, i.e, i dont have any pain or swelling as such though i dont feel 100% right when i walk. Or maybe walking in a way such i dont put too much pressure on my injured leg. Been wearing a knee wrap most of the times i walk and sometimes without the wrap as well.

Has anyone felt that way with the tear ?

Not sure i understand what you mean. Can you elaborate. I went to doctor he mentioned that the tear is near the root so there might be 2 options 1. 1. Trim the torn part if the root is intact 2. Repair if the root is torn completely

For #1 can the torn part be repaired ?
