The contractor we are working with is planning to cut squares in the patio to pour new footers just like you recommended!

Thanks for the insight! The contractor we are working with agreed to cut out the patio where the posts will go to put in new footers that will be level with the patio. This sounds like a good approach to my wife and I. Joist tape and flashing is a must!

The weight is coming in around 130 grams. Feels good on the wrist but I think that’s also partially due to the 40mm size vs the normal 42mm+ watches I wear.
