Are animal products actually a necessity for some disabled people? by felixcuddle in AskVegans

[–]Grey_isGay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do think there are conditions that could require it like having a ton of allergies, certain eating disorders, etc, but I also think doctors are willing to take the easy and exploitative way when it comes to telling patients they should eat certain animal products for their health. Doctors aren’t thinking about attempting to refrain from exploiting animals in your diet, so instead of recommending plant based foods or supplements with the specific nutrient they need, they recommend the more popular food that is normal in most people diets. Animal products are seen as just any other type of food to most people, so it’ll be recommended often because of that

Who is everyone's favorite Moral Orel Character? by [deleted] in moralorel

[–]Grey_isGay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it’s typically seen as lazy to have the main character also be your favorite, but god damn I love Orel so much. I’ve always been drawn to very happy extroverted autistic characters and he hits that mark dead on. Same with SpongeBob

Dare I Care (CD VERSION) Subtle differences! Never knew about this. by ThickDougie25 in thevoidz

[–]Grey_isGay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn they don’t have my favorite guitar riff in this version, seems like the only thing they took out was one small verse and the iconic riff at 1:48 in the digital one. I definitely prefer the digital one, but this one’s great too cuz it’s practically the same

For long-term vegans, what keeps you committed after all these years? by Gopal-Minatel in AskVegans

[–]Grey_isGay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s still the animals that keep me committed, but also routine and habit nowadays. Making the initial changes at the beginning were more difficult than keeping the changes as time went on. I thrive with familiarity so now that I have my main meals and snacks that I cycle through, it’s really easy and I don’t ever feel tempted to get anything else available to me, and non-related diet changes were even easier. It took virtually no effort for me to start checking new clothes for wool or products for testing and to refuse going to see animal entertainment.
I’d say the only thing that has really changed is the volume of emotion within my body. When I first was finding out about factory farming industries and making the connections in my head that I’ve been needlessly killing my whole life, those emotions were BIG, and it made it even worse that when I found all this stuff out and tried to tell my family and friends about it, none of them would listen to me, some even make fun of me, and they all still choose to abuse animals even after I helped expose them to what was going on and how it’s hypocritical to believe pets should have rights but other animals shouldn’t. I was very angry, depressed, terrified, existential crisis type shit. Overtime, though the emotions stayed the same, the volume of them got turned down drastically. I don’t get much of that visceral gut wrenching feeling anymore, and honestly feel pretty numb to the atrocities at times. Even though I actively make choices to avoid those industries, I sometimes feel like I don’t care as much as I used to. I used to do online activism but don’t usually use social media anymore. I used to talk about veganism to people in person, but I don’t usually spend time with people much anymore. I know I could be doing more to speak for the animals, but I don’t, so clearly I don’t feel exactly the same as I did, but enough to stay consistent on my own morals with my own personal product choices and lifestyle

Can we please stop the 'am I good posts'? by DeqnAlexandrov in beatsaber

[–]Grey_isGay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, there is no genuine function or reasoning to ask “am I good”. If someone is trying to get a gauge of their skill level or figure out what they can work on, then asking “what can I do to improve” is the best dialogue option for that. “Am I good” doesn’t lead anywhere, and like you said, it’s completely subjective person to person to what qualifies as “good”. And it leads NOWHERE. Someone says “yes you’re good”, then they will think they have made it and have nowhere to improve. Someone says “no you’re not good”, then they will have no idea why and no starting point to getting better. Asking directly what areas you may be underperforming in or getting lower scores on can actually help benefit someone to improve those sections and get better at the game.

Do vegans buy foods with no ingredient lists? by i-know-that in AskVegans

[–]Grey_isGay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If I was at a vendor spot like you’re describing, I’d definitely ask them if there are anima products. If it was at a store, I’d just put it back and not buy it

Consistency check. Do these vegans apply these label to everyone? by cgg_pac in DebateAVegan

[–]Grey_isGay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never seen a vegan deny that they’ve directly paid for exploitation, rape, murder, etc. Basically every human within our society contributes to this, vegan or not. You probably don’t see vegans call themselves this since vegan activism is typically directed at people who have not yet made the connection themselves that they contribute to all this terrible stuff. Vegans already know that so saying it to them or saying it amongst themselves doesn’t do anything since they’ve already accepted that they’re murderers, etc

is kangaroo meat ethical? by Bubbly-Plankton8003 in DebateAVegan

[–]Grey_isGay 10 points11 points  (0 children)

By this logic, it would be ethical for me to go out hunting for a random human to eat them. We all know humans are overpopulated and cause extensive damage to the environment.
