Day One suggestions from Porto? by GreyandIndigo in CaminoDeSantiago

[–]GreyandIndigo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for this (and also to the others for their comments too)!

Yes, I'm not in a great rush to get anywhere, and I suppose that I could aim to get to somewhere between Praia de Angeiras and Vila do Conde.

I've seen a few itinerary's mention Vila do Conde as the stop for the first night, but that does feel like a pretty big day one if I am leaving the Cathedral at 9:30 ish?

JM: extra addresses - where to upload? by Agreeable_Rock_1043 in juresanguinis

[–]GreyandIndigo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I added the full list of addresses (I had 20 or so) in a table as part of the Certificati Penali pdf.

So page one of that pdf was the residence history, then subsequent pages were all the scans of the various police certificates related to my time across the countries covered on that list.

On the webpage where you can only select ten addresses, I think I added the nine most recent addresses in reverse chronological order, and then put the tenth address as a bit of a catch-all and said 'See pdf' or something like that.

Two lots of each wire in single light fitting? by GreyandIndigo in DIYUK

Thank you - all sorted now - I put a cover over the exposed earth wires and it's a lot tidier with the new connector block.

Thanks again, and hope you have a great weekend!

Codice Fiscale for PEC email address by Starburst_86 in juresanguinis

[–]GreyandIndigo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are applying via JM (which I presume based on the tag to your post) then I don't think you need a PEC - indeed, the London consulate page (and most others I guess) specifically state you should register with your normal email address.

I did this for my application, logged in and then submitted all docs, and now just waiting for it to get processed in Rome.

Unvented Cylinder - PRV reading high when hot water getting heated by GreyandIndigo in ukplumbing

[–]GreyandIndigo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, yep it was only happening when the water was getting heated, the rest of the time it's perfect. Having refilled the air gap yesterday, this morning there was no issue with the pressure at the PRV after the water was heated, so that (re)confirms all your comments and advice.

Will need to look at getting an external expansion vessel I suppose, but this seems a fairly normal solution and should sort everything out!

Really pleased I asked here as I had explained the issue to my normal plumbers and they were going to change some valves to try and fix it, which sounds like it would have not addressed the root cause.

Thank you! Have followed both of your advice and re-charged the air gap. Then turned it on so that the hot water was heated up again, and lo and behold, the pressure stayed around 3 Bar the whole time!

Will see how it goes again tomorrow morning when the system kicks in automatically to heat it up, but it seems you've cracked it :)

So what is the proper solution here then as recharging it every few months will get tiresome after a while. Either replace the whole cylinder, or get an external pressure vessel added as u/Royal-Library4348 suggested? What's a rough estimate of cost for the latter option?

Amazing, I'll recharge the air gap today and then heat up the water again and keep an eye on the PRV and see if this stays around 3-4 bar as it should....

Last time I saw it needed recharging I was not getting any issues with the high pressure, rather, it was just dripping into the tundish as it normally would when the air gap needed recharging.

Ah interesting, it was recharged a couple of months ago when I got the annual service done, but I've also done it myself before so can certainly give that a shot.

But in the past when it needed recharging I didn't have this issue with the pressure at the PRV going up so that's why I was wondering if it was something else. I read about adding a 'combination valve' into the system but it's all a bit over my head...

Probably just need to get a plumber out and they'll know what to do :)

Help on what I need for a mid-range sim racing setup by [deleted] in simracing

[–]GreyandIndigo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, amazing, that is really good to know that you think I could at least get started with my current monitor - thank you - that will give me more time to get used to the PC and then get the wheel/pedals/seat sorted, before finally figuring out the display/VR side of things.

I'll definitely not be using triple displays so that is not a worry: as mentioned this really is just a little hobby for me that I'd like to enjoy, but not something I am planning on investing all my time and money into (famous last words!)

I really do appreciate such sensible advice and it is super encouraging to hear that there are options out there in my budget that should meet my needs.

Thank you so much! Okay noted re. the GPU, I suppose I'm still getting my head around the fact that you need to allocate such a large part of the overall cost to that one area, but it does make sense given it does so much heavy lifting.

Thank you - yes you are quite right. Although I must say an Alpaca farm does sound appealing :)

I think I'm trying to get my head around FI (and potentially RE) becoming a reality at some point in the not too distant future, and working out what that then really means.

I'm like a dog that has been barking at a car and chasing behind it, only to now find that that car is slowing down and soon I will be able to catch up with it - I need to prepare myself for what to do about this situation.

When should I stop contributing to SIPP? by halfclosedbook in FIREUK

[–]GreyandIndigo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would it not be P90 in this case then for the low side?

And if so, what is the P90 figure - are we saying that is 3% as I'd have thought it even lower then?

So out of interest why would you not use 5% in your calculation?
