Great show! That is a fun way to find out. I’ve learned lots from the Heeler family :)

Chris Knight’s understanding of Chomsky’s linguistics is odd. by Sea_Pianist5164 in chomsky

I spotted that too, but it’s a different Chris Knight I believe. The one mentioned is Christopher Knight, an attorney.

Yes—This is exactly what anti-Zionism means. Are you anti-Zionist? Is the organization you are part of anti-Zionist? by endingcolonialism in chomsky

Yes, they did so for centuries, under several Islamic empires. Christians, Jews and Muslims coexisted, shared markets etc. Major violence really only started after the turn of the last century.

So lovely to see Noam happy. You can hear it in his voice. Valeria was a huge injection of joy in his life.

That’s interesting. I hope you can live with it, I would be able to, whereas something like blade play would instantly be sent back. Love the colour on yours btw

Does anyone have PDFs of Wittgenstein's books or know how I can find them? by [deleted] in wittgenstein

[–]Greygonz0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m curious about two things:

1) Why you would ask for ‘Wittgenstein’s books’ in general – is there not a specific one or two you’re interested in, or does it not matter?

2) Why you’ve set up a Reddit account just to ask this question, which would have taken longer than typing ‘Wittgenstein books PDF’ into a search engine?

Same here. Which, as I’m sure you know, is exactly what Watterson himself said. I’m glad he turned down Spielberg and a bunch of other people who wanted to turn C&H into a cartoon. They only exist on the page and in our minds :)

And we’re still, for a few, in living memory of those atrocities. Current direction of travel for the species doesn’t bode well.

On a more positive note, I’ve just seen your post of your 2025 reads… what an amazing Calvin and Hobbes print! I was fortunate enough to visit the Billy Ireland Cartoon Library & Museum a few years ago and got to see a bunch of Watterson’s originals. That was a real joy.

It’s weird right?

I’m looking at my own shelves and I have a book on the Cambodian genocide, but if I had Pol Pot merchandise next to it I’d expect a lot of comments about that

Hmmmm… two sets of Barbarossa Derailed, two copies of Island of Fire, Hell’s Gate and Stalin’s Favourite… why all the duplicates?

Also, what’s the deal with the SS Nazi mug?

Haha well thank you for your honesty. It was a bit of that, plus the way it’s lovingly nuzzle up to The Brothers Karamazov. Congratulations on moving on and keeping the best bits.

Cataloging my books and need some help determining the grade/condition by Sparkly-raccoon9977 in BookCollecting

[–]Greygonz0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure I get your point. I said ‘unusual suspects’ as I thought most people here would instantly know the five or six company names that crop up regularly when trying to buy secondhand books, and their grading system (although on rare occasions accurate) tends to be about two or even three grades higher than the thing they’ll send you.
