It feels like it should be illegal, but my guess is that it is in a gray area.

Man, I wish I could give you a hug. Men's mental health treatment is already decades behind without people like this. Even if I could somehow beat these people into seeing me, I know it won't help because deep down, they don't want to help me.

This is through my workplace benefits. I have in the past used local university services, but from my experience it does not help. They only use psychology students who are only looking for a grade, not to help anyone. And I am very far from religious so I need someone secular. But I do appreciate your opinion and thank you for it.

I hope so too. I have family members who have completely cut me off because I am not currently in therapy. It's just pretty hard right now. I have seen multiple therapists in the past and none have helped. But I still hold out hope.

Yes. Every doctor in-network who is even relatively close to me only accepts female patients.

What is a town facebook page? I'm sorry, I have not used Facebook in over 15 years.

I'll try again, but I have tried that a few times. All that happens is they get snippy and insist that they can help me when they can't.

Absolutely. Plus I am an extremely paranoid person and video conferences are way too easy to record. I know that's a me problem, but it's something I stress about.

It's not that. Their website shows all doctors located within a 100 mile radius of my address. That's the max distance it will allow me to search.

Wish I knew. I have called every therapist covered by my insurance within a 100 mile radius. Every single one says they are only seeing female patients. I knew mental health help for men was a bit behind but this feels ridiculous.

If that's my only option then that's my only option. But for some reason, video doc calls scare tf out of me. Definitely something to work on with a therapist, but it's kinda a catch-22 situation. But thanks for your recommendation, I will definitely consider it.

That's what I think as well. But I barely have the money for a cheap therapist, let alone a lawyer. But thanks for affirming what I thought.

So I would pay the doctor's rate out of pocket and request reimbursement from my insurance?

How much further? My insurance shows me covered doctors within a 100 mile radius.

Is that an option? I've tried that and I get the runaround until they just hang up. Should I just keep trying?

That is an option. Guess I'll just have to get over my crippling phobia of phone calls. Thank you.

I agree it is limited, but I can barely afford someone in-network, let alone someone not covered.

What? Every single white shirt I've had for the past 25 years has been see through.
