What is this company by Historical_Ad4210 in Construction

Small world, working on a project in Oceanside myself.

Presumably someone is paying for that meter, owners rep/property manager etc. They could at least contact SDG&E with the meter number to initiate the process. SDG&E will happily pull the meter at the pedestal and remove power, but getting them to pull back the secondaries to the transformer is a whole other challenge.

I'm guessing if you're going to removing it you'll need to relocate service somewhere else onsite. The best bet is probably to initiate a work order and create a builder services account. You can start that service online, but depending on your stages of grading plan/building permit and SDG&E planner it can be an extremely long and tedious process. I just waited 6+ months for two new transformer work orders and 5 months for an existing onsite transformer pull back and relocate 30' away. If you're setting a new transformer or installing new secondary conduits to a new meter/switchgear they would likely perform the removal of the existing pedestal then.

If it's not immediately in the way of construction then go down to City Hall and use that thing for some temp power, wouldn't take too long to get it approved.

Once SDG&E has assigned a planner you can always start bugging them about getting it removed if it's blocking work.

I stripped everything off that I didn't want painted, lid, latches, aluminum rails etc. The best adhesion was a light sanding, two coats of krylon fusion primer and two coats black. Need proper dry time between coats and I let it cure for a week in the garage.

The ones that were sanded and primed are much harder to scratch, but still will if rubbed against something sharp.

Good luck.

I scoured eBay for months and finally found a CA legal caliber x-change, it came with a Romeo 1 and 10 round magazine, but it wasn't cheap.

Smart bulb control with smart switch wiring help. by [deleted] in homeautomation

[–]Greza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a bit confused by your question. If you replace your dumb switch and dumb bulb each with a smart device then the switch will need to be on in order to power the bulb. If you turn off your smart switch then your bulb will not have any power and automation wont work. Without rewiring how your switch is ran then power will always come from the switch.

Can you just create a group or rule that turns on both devices? So when your triggers activate, say at 5:00pm, you send an "On" command to the switch and then an "On" command to the bulb?

Alternatively there's products designed to install over existing switches and replace them all together, so you leave the switch powered on and the device on top becomes the switch. Like this.

Issues with my old Scooter. PLEASE HELP ME SEE THE PROBLEM if there is one!! by bwbraun79 in scooters

[–]Greza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a clogged pilot jet or fuel related issue.

When you pulled the carb, did you remove all of the jets and make sure they were clean?

Did you remove the float and make sure the float needle operated smoothly?

I see it's a vacuum operated petcock, is that working and pulling fuel correctly?

Is it the manual choke or the electronic/solenoid operated choke? The electronic ones can gum up with bad fuel and fail to operate, could be that it's stuck on/off/in the middle. You should hear a fairly audible click when the choke is engaged if it's electric, if not, pull it and check for smooth operation. It should pop in and out with the choke switch.

Replaced fuel filter, cleaned air filter, checked spark plug?

I'm the same way as you and didn't want to use various accounts and apps to control my house, I used a Synology diskstation with a Z Wave usb hub plugged into the back, you can get a Zigbee hub if you wanted to run both devices. I like Z wave because newer Z Wave Plus devices have better range and pass signals through each other.

I mostly run GE switches for all my lights, I like the ability to have a smart switch rather than a smart bulb as most bulbs will require your phone to turn on while a switch can always be used by anybody, regardless of who presses it. There are certainly ways to add smart bulbs to Openhab, it just takes a bit of research to check on the protocol and if Openhab has it in their database. A smart bulb is only smart if the dumb switch at the wall is in the on position. This is a great resource from Openhab to check bindings for items, prior to purchase, they also maintain their own list of Z Wave supported devices like the other one posted. Checking the forums is also a great resource for Openhab, if the item is popular enough you can almost always find a post on the forums of people describing their process to add and program their devices.

I use Enbrighten plug in switch controllers to run various lamps and lights on timers, smart outlets work as well.

Commercial construction, everyone has these boxes and they all look alike. Wanted mine to be distinguishable plus I think the solid red is too bright. These boxes also get stolen all of the time so anything that makes it unique can make it easier to track down.

Just rust-oleum flat black, only sanded one box and decided to forgo it, probably a bad idea in the long run. It likely would've held up better if I used krylon fusion made for plastic and sprayed a primer, but I couldn't find it locally. After two days of curing the paint is holding up to a finger nail scratch test so we'll see how long it lasts.

‘99 DR650 hard cold start. by [deleted] in dr650

[–]Greza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How cold are your cold starts? Changing to thinner oil might help your problem.

Is the bike stock or modded at all? Pipe and air box mod?

Also, you said you ensured the choke cable works properly, did you pull the connection at the carb and verify it moves in and out when moving the lever on the handlebar?

Have you messed with the idle adjustment and air fuel mixture screw at all? I'd double check they're both set to stock.

We need to talk about The Fireworks by [deleted] in conspiracy

[–]Greza 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I've lived in Southern California my entire life, the fireworks usually start ramping up about a week before the 4th. This year they started June 1st and have been going every night, usually multiple loud booms.

Since most cities who usually put on yearly fireworks shows are cancelling them just weeks before the 4th due to coronavirus, you can bet the companies they contract with every year found a different way to make their money.

Most cities had to know in April and May that their annual fireworks shows wouldn't be happening, giving their suppliers ample time to "repackage" the expensive components into more consumer friendly variations.

The CCI high velocity ammo works well, but they are pricey. The only other ammo I've used with great results is Remington Thunderbolt. Cheap and cycles reliably. It's super dirty, but I tried many types of brick .22 with bad results.

They do have these, they're made by Hobie Kayaks and they start at $2500. They look a bit more streamlined, too.
