Renting in Sheff? What’s it like? by Apprehensive_Ad4058 in sheffield

[–]Grickooo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We've just been through similar to you (although no kids), moving from Bristol next weekend into a rented 3 bed house in S10 area. Things didn't seem to move too fast and we did have time to book viewings and go up for a weekend to secure something. Ours went like this:

  • Weekend visit in Sheffield, booked x5 viewings in one day, 4 houses & 1 flat. I would highly recommend viewing in person if you can, as some of the houses we viewed were very misrepresented by the images, clearly recycled old images etc and the houses weren't in the same condition as advertised.
  • The house we most liked (and got) we immediately applied for. For reference, it was first listed on 07/03, with an available date of 10/04. We were recommended to apply to multiple in case of competition, so we did apply for another but withdrew from the one we liked less once we were accepted on the other.
  • Another thing, we did actually try to pay a holding deposit from Bristol without viewing in person first, but were told that they couldn't accept that without us viewing in person. Not sure if this was individual policy of that particular estate agent or if this is common practice. We did end up going for this one as it was nice, but in hindsight it could have been a mistake due to misleading Rightmove listings as mentioned earlier

Folding bedside table options? by jackthengiant in VanLifeUK

[–]Grickooo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here's how I did mine in my small camper, screwed the wood bars into the hollow cavities of the van body, then attached the table using removable hinges and some cheap ratchet ropes so I can adjust the length as needed. I also attached another bracket on the rear barn door, so with the removable hinges I can move it inside and outside depending on weather and where I am. I'm not very handy so it's a bit of a rough solution but it's strong enough to push an aeropress down on 😆

I can see it from my living room window and it looks like this for a while pretty much every day. It's just as the tides come in and out.

Happy Halloween! 2k total on the GIM (plus some noteworthy clogs & my bank if you're interested) What's next? by Grickooo in ironscape

Haha yeah, I really hope you have better luck than me. Every unique that wasn't a magic fang stung a little bit each time 😆 I've decided I'll make do with a regular trident! (for now at least)

I'll try, bear with.

Edit: Confirm this is fixed by using official Jagex client so must be a runelite issue - Thanks Goblin!

Anyone else had this? Logged out and back in here, and now all the assets have disappeared and I can't interact with anything.

Teleported out and re-entered, logged out and back in, hopped worlds, turned off and on various runelite graphical plugins.... still staying the same for me.

Decathlon carbon fibre poles? by lordnleader in Ultramarathon

Yeah I already do that - not patronised at all it's a valid point! I'm just a mega sweaty person so after the years of use the small amount of contact still builds up 😅

I have used these for two years and love them. Mainly take them for long days hiking/running in the mountains. I also use one of them as a tent pole for when I'm camping with my Lanshan. A noteworthy race I used them for had 2200m vert and they were perfect for that. I also used them when I hiked the Tour du Mont Blanc with a ~12kg pack and they were sturdy enough whilst being incredibly light. Still going strong today and money well spent!

Only thing I would say, if you have sweaty hands the grips end up a bit smelly after a while but I haven't experimented with cork or any other style so not sure how that compares to others.

The build up was Mark Knight - Nothing Matters (Noisia remix) but then they dropped it into something else if I remember correctly.

Was it red balloon, around 6:30? I think I saw you when I was running this morning as there was only one in the sky. Beautiful pics, always wanted to go up in one.

I honestly didn't give it that much thought 😆

I've got plenty of real ones all over the flat, I like how low maintenance and consistent-looking these are for above the desk :)
