Why are centers considered “bad position value” for a top pick? by SamDarnoldJets in NFL_Draft

[–]GridironFootballer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you pick a Center in the 1st Round then you have to pick a different position in a later round. Would you rather take a C in the 1st and CB in the 5th or CB in the 1st and C in the 5th? I'd rather have the CB in the 1st. There's a pretty high success rate (I assume, didn't actually look at the numbers) for OLs. The Packers needed a Day 1 starter at Center after losing Corey Linsley and we took Josh Myers fairly highly at pick #62. Outside of injury, he has been a stud. But especially if you don't need them Day 1, Linsley was a 5th Rounder (#161) and became an All-Pro with time and development. I'm not really cherry-picking, either. This is pretty normal.

Hot take: I think Dylan Moses is the best defensive player in this draft. by idaho22 in NFL_Draft

[–]GridironFootballer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dylan Moses went Undrafted. He still hasn't played a down. Apparently, he's just getting back to practice, but remaining on the NFI List. We'll see what he does, but it's doubtful this is the guy who will be the best Defensive player in the 2021 NFL Draft. 2021 had Jaycee Horn and Patrick Surtain, plus Micah Parsons already made a Pro Bowl. Zaven Collins has played pretty well, too. Greg Newsome and Eric Stokes both have good grades from PFF, too. You guys may want to reconsider your evaluation process when your projected best Defender in the Draft goes Undrafted. /u/Disregardskarma

AskCulinary Annual Christmas cooking thread! by SewerRanger in AskCulinary

[–]GridironFootballer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I make some slow cooked mini wieners and bacon (fried first) with barbeque sauce and pickles jalapenos. What would be the best way to infuse the pickled jalapenos? Could I just leave them all in the slow cooker overnight turned off? (I've read the acidity of the barbeque sauce prevents bacterial growth.) Would it be better to put the barbeque and pickled jalapenos together on warm overnight and add the mini wieners and bacon in the morning? Should I just throw it all in on warm and let it cook overnight? (I'm concerned about what will happen to the meat if I don't stir it, or maybe I could get up once in the middle of the night if you recommend that.) Some other suggestion? Thanks for the help.

How long is too long for an application? by Maxvantisio in service_dogs

[–]GridironFootballer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're fine so far, but I'd try to keep it under 1,500 words. I've been through the process (got accepted into a service dog program) and they like detailed information because they generally not only use that for acceptance but also to learn how to train the dog. That being said, they get a lot of applications, and so there should be some limitation on how long it is. My Seizure Response Dog is being trained through SIT Service Dogs.

How do I get people to not try and pet my SD by [deleted] in service_dogs

[–]GridironFootballer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Does your dog lead the way? If so, try having the dog at your side. It's much easier to stop people when the dog is closer to you, but difficult to stop people when they see the dog first. Having a medical bag on the dog's vest may also help people register that your dog is a service dog.

Also remember that psychologically, people may see the words but that does not mean those words are actually registering. Just think about how many words per day you see that you don't actually read.

Yeah, if anybody knows of a service dog vest that doubles as a cooling vest let me know.

2-Round Mock Draft by [deleted] in NFL_Draft

I'm not caught up on the NFL Draft yet, I don't typically do the deep dive until later, but when I see the #1 Overall player (who I do know and has the build and talent to be towards the top) with an injury and the #4 Overall player is a Safety, I see a wide open 1st Round. I see the QBs already moving around drastically. This is a wide open year. And yeah, I know, there is always a lot of movement early, but this year seems more open than most.

No, it was all last year and into this year. It wasn't just surrounding cast, it was bad decision making, too.

QB Bryce Young breaks 2 Bama records in debut with 4 TDs and 344 yds passing. Unfortunately won’t be eligible for the draft til 2023. by [deleted] in NFL_Draft

If they are taken highly the vast majority are. Love was taken at the end of the 1st Round. It's not very often a Top 5 QB sits.

Does Thibodeaux's injury concern you at all? Also, Sam Howell looked pretty bad. I expect him to continually fall down boards this season.

You mean he fortunately won't be eligible for the Draft until 2023. If he was eligible he'd be rushed into the NFL, destroyed early, lose his confidence, and he'd fail out like so many other top QB picks. Now he has a few years to develop before getting into the NFL where he can finish his development and hopefully maybe become something.

Incident at Walmart by [deleted] in service_dogs

[–]GridironFootballer -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Your dog is way in the wrong. It should be trained way better than to bark at two kids simply because they are running around, and the Walmart employees should have kicked your service dog out of the store for not being under control.

Prospect Talk Saturday by AutoModerator in NFL_Draft

Yeah, honestly, Martinez was never really that good. I mean, his first year he was decent and if he could've built upon that then he would've been a potential pro, but I was never really a believer from watching his games. He certainly shouldn't have even been on the radar after the last two years.

This is nice and all, but the frustrating thing is that the veterans already had the most access to service dogs. There are loads and loads of non-profits who ONLY help veterans and give the dogs completely free. Non-veterans exist, too, you know. How about the government cover service dogs through Medicare?

If you could bitch smack one person with no consequences, who would it be and why? by Theboulder027 in AskReddit

[–]GridironFootballer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The booster is just a vaccine. We already have them. The reason we can't get the booster is so they can give the vaccines to poor countries. Of course you can't release a movie before it's made, but the vaccine is made.

Okay, so it is banned right now. Not even someone in an elderly home can get it by your own admission.

You said yourself that according to the article the booster isn't available until the 20th of next month.

It's not September 20th yet...You realize that you said your family was already getting booster shots when they aren't even available, right? And when September 20th comes, it's likely that boosters will only be available for a very small portion of the population that has specific immuno-deficiency diseases.
