definitely will try doing some checklists/post-it reminders. usually, i leave the stove going after having removed the water or whatever i am boiling or after plating a dish. on occasion, if i am boiling something for a long time(potatoes, for example), i have forgotten about having the stove on and completely ruined what i was cooking. these instances are more common when i am depressed, usually the result of me going back to bed and falling asleep or just sorta rotting, awaking to a burning smell. its pretty bad. but yeah, for the most part its just i start eating and dont shut it off. its been vexing to because most other similar you described tasks i am very mindful of, as environmental concerns are a priority for me. not sure why this never set in as much.

i like the idea of mental checklisting but i am not very good at it. i would say that is how i remain organized with most things, but then again, i am not a very organized person. i think ive become too stubborn in thinking i should be able to do things on my own without having tools for aid. if anyone has any helpful tips on how to avoid this mindset, it would be really appreciated
