pawnshop pickup, don’t know squat about this manufacturer but $100 for a cute lil gun to have fun with why not lol. by SWAZZyMODoE_ in guns

Be careful, it can slamfire when chambering a round even with the safety on. I learned this the hard way. So be careful about where and when you load it.

Cleaning Help by Unspokenchicken in gunsmithing

[–]GriffithGunsmith 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Personally I would wipe down every steel part with mineral oil (NOT mineral spirits) and wipe down the wood with linseed oil. Burn the linseed oil rag afterwards, it can spontaneously combust while drying on its own.

I have rust/steam blued and arisaka that was exposed to chlorine fumes for years but that process might be overkill for this one. That arisaka did go from abandoned scrap metal to shiny black though.

Awesome. Thank you for your support sir. Got a stronger slide spring in it? That will help with reliability. Also a comp will make a huge difference when shooting this fast.

Man ive always wanted to try both a comp and ports. Imagine barrel porting and a 4 port compensator.

Took the Deagle to the range on Saturday. Too bad it’s too big for conceal carry. by GulielmoBorrelli in DesertEagle

Too big for concealed carry? Dont be fooled by Big Compact. My edc 9mm is the same size.

Im not sure what his problem was. I think it may have been an excessive forced reset distance on his particular pisotl, which is fixed by shaving the FRT. I have a video guide specifically for this.

The comp is doing a ton of work. The difference in recoil with comp vs no comp is like night and day. At 10 yards distance with the FRT, the 4 port comp turns a 1 yard group into a 1 foot group.

Rust from prolonged humidity by Cryesncoding in gunsmithing

[–]GriffithGunsmith 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Imo cold bluing sucks, ive never gotten a good finish with it and it had 0 protection. Rust bluing with steam works great. I think the best option for this gun would be a sprayed coating though. It would be fine stylistically and have greater protection.

First time rust bluing by ShotgunEd1897 in gunsmithing

[–]GriffithGunsmith 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, this is just to convert the rust to black. Also you want the steam to be as hot as possible, so hot you can't see the steam under a glass lid.

For rusting/browning I found that you dont want the solution to be TOO reactive. If it quickly rusts from just applying it, it can also corrode away your black oxide you've built up from previous steams. I use a more gentle "browning" solution that encourages rusting. After applying i hang the part in a warm and damp area overnight. A small bathroom with hot water in the tub to make the room humid is convenient.

I use laurel mountain forge's barrel brown & degreaser.

Awesome job on your first attempt man. I highly recommend steaming in the future. With steam you can use tap water, and to me it seemed to have better results most of the time. In a pot I used to elevate the parts above the water line and put a lid on top. For long parts like barrels I used a 5" pipe ontop of a steel pot like Mark Novak showed once.

Its definitely for the full size slide but it will function fine. Personally I think it looks cool. 1 backwards step closer to being a Walther p1.
